Screen Display is Different in Firefox than in Internet Explorer

more options

I used to be able to view my "account activity" after logging into my www.53.com account. However

something changed such that when I attempt to view account activity a screen is displayed with the word working but no information. There is no other activity being displayed on the screen. If I use Internet Explorer, I have no problem viewing the information. The 5th 3rd bank "support desk" basically had me clear the history and other information but this did not fix the problem. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Of course they blame Firefox, but my hunch is they never tested some change they made on Firefox. I am 20.0.1 of Firefox.

Thanks, please help as I do not like Internet Explorer. Could you get a hold of 5th 3rd bank and help them out?

Regards, Terry Dishneau

Reload web page(s) and bypass the cache to refresh possibly outdated or corrupted files.

  • Press and hold Shift and left-click the Reload button.
  • Press "Ctrl + F5" or press "Ctrl + Shift + R" (Windows,Linux)
  • Press "Command + Shift + R" (MAC)

Clear the cache and the cookies from sites that cause problems.

"Clear the Cache":

  • Firefox/Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"

"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:

  • Firefox/Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).

  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window or otherwise make changes.

I finally tried Firefox in safe mode and it worked fine. What could be the problem?

As described in the Safe Mode article, a number of things are disabled in Safe Mode that you could try disabling when you're in normal mode. The big 2 are:

(1) Disable extensions here:

orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons > Extensions category

(2) Turn off Firefox's use of hardware graphics acceleration -- however this doesn't seem especially relevant if the content is just not loading, it relates more to display artifacts.
