My computer came with Realtek HD Audio Manager from which you control the sound. When I change it from Stereo to 5.1 or vice versa the sound in Firefox is suddenly muted, until you restart the computer. I need to swith between the two a fair bit so any help would be greatly appreciated.thanks.

Don't know the exact answer, but Press the "WinKey" and enter "Sound" into the search box at the bottom. Several places you can look. Perhaps "Adjust system volume" ("Sound volume mixer") and make sure that Firefox is not muted. (Windows 7)
