Use this extension to be able to set your preferred web site for the new tab.

This did not work at all. Every time I press the "+", the new tab opens Yahoo.com. Yahoo is not my home page.

A new tab opens by default as a blank tab (about:blank).

If that isn't the case then an extension has changed that behavior.
