See subject. I swear I think this works correctly sometimes, but other times (majority) it does this.

Yes I know about middle click (which works as expected) but considering this should work correctly I'm curious what is going on.

This is FF on Win 10.

This can happen if the website uses an onclick handler to open the link in the current tab. If you use Ctrl + click then you also get the link opening in a new tab., so you end up with two.
