As I can't reply to the message received on how to get thunderbird to accept my existing email which has got me past that step, (received from Bruce Johnson, many thanks) now I have email screen but no messages appearing in inbox, have tried many times now to 'get messages' but nothing happening, as I'm a carpenter and not very good with computers please help, it's a recently purchased laptop with open office on board but no email provider which I thought would be such a basic provision as text on a phone, but hey got to use thunderbird apparently, been nothing short of a ball ache, also why can't I contact mozilla or thunderbird direct?????again this is ridiculous. Many thanks mike

The only support you can get for Thunderbird is through this forum, and everyone here helping with Thunderbird is an unpaid volunteer. So please be nice. Also, stop creating new "threads" for the same issue.

If you used the settings I gave you in the other thread: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1152775 and you are still having problems, then I or others here can try to help you further.

As you say, though, you are not good with computers, and it is clear from your posts that you don't understand them or computer services very well. So even if we try to help you further, you may not be able to follow our instructions.

I respectfully suggest that you find someone there who can help you with these issues, even if you have to pay them.
