Thunderbird 38.4 becomes painfully slow if and only if the 2 modules "Lightning 4.0.4.1" & "Automatic Export 0.5.2" are running. In this case, more than 1 Gb of RAM & 1 core are completely used by Thunderbird. It seems that a memory leak appears (not sure) and Linux become instable (sure).

I disabled the module "Automatic Export" (what is this for ?) and all the problems are solved at once. Idem without Lightning but I know what is this for. And I need it ! ;-)

The problem did not exist with previous versions of Thunderbird. It appears after an automatic upgrade of T-Bird in November/December.

Well looking at the add-ons page I learned little. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/addon/automatic-export/ Looking to the home page I learned less as I do not speak German.

If you think your need the functionality this add-on provides, I suggest you drop the author a note and see what they suggest. I note however that the add-on has not been updated since 2012, so it might be that it is no longer supported. Or it might be it has not needed attention in that time frame.

Thanks Matt :-)

I feel a bit stupid not to have looked at the module page by myself :-/ And yes, I used the module for backup purpose but I work another way since 1 year or two. And yes, there are no upgrade since... ages. And yes, there might be problems with the linux version.

I'll disable the module and consider the question solved. Again, many thanks Matt
