Stackoverflow website used to provide dynamic updates.But after updating firefox to 18, the dynamic update is no longer working.The functionality is working fine in all other browsers(in ie, chrome and opera I have tested)

could you try the Reset Firefox feature and report back? probably it will fix your issue. Note that using this, your extensions and themes will be lost and open tabs, windows and tab groups will be removed. To reset firefox go to Firefox -> Help -> Troubleshooting Information. Then click the Reset Firefox button and confirm. Please let us know if this fixed your problem!
