Can't set default email identity for calender invitations

I cannot add a default email identity for my google calender that's syncing with Thunderbird (Provider For Google Calender) I've tried troubleshooting online but all of them are outdated, is it still possible nowadays or is there an alternative option, did i miss something perhaps?

In the Thunderbird Calendar tab, use File (Alt-F) - New - Calendar. Select 'On the Network'. Enter your Gmail email address. Thunderbird will do the rest automatically. Enter your Gmail account password when prompted, and give permission for Thunderbird to access the Google Calendar.

Are you using an add-on to access the Google Calendar? If so, that's not needed anymore.

Yea, i'm using Provider For Google Calender as a add-on to access google calender. I've tried adding google calender without using it but it doesn't work i'm afraid. Maybe i did something wrong.

What would you suggest?

What was different when you tried that the first time?

Before i had no "On the network" option, so i had to install a plugin to let it work. But right now it worked without the extension, maybe they updated Thunderbird in the meantime?
