What is the difference between subscribed and unsubscribed folders? Before using TBird, I had created a number of folders for storing emails, but when I downloaded and started using TBird many of them didn't show up unitl I went into advanced server settings and unchecked "show only subscribed folders."

Got me curious what the differences (advantage, disadvantage, issues, etc) are between these types of folders.

When using IMAP email the account folders reside on the server and you view those folders remotely. You subscribe to folders that you want to see and unsubscribe to those you don't. This is done at File-Subscribe. This only applies to IMAP and not POP accounts.
