First off you should warn that this version changes your profile, so there is no going back. I installed it and have lost ALL of my accounts and had to start from scratch. It took me back to the beginning. I hate the interface, too cluttered, to busy and generally sucks. I am thinking of dumping thunderbird at many, many years of using it.

Thunderbird did an auto update this morning and failed to restart. I get a message that says this version is incompatible with the last. I pay over 20 bills from folders I created in it the applications inbox, house billing info and passes and links to the pages and responses, etc. This is a MUST for me that this thing works and works well. Until this morning it was flawless in that capacity. My only fix after extensive research has been to download the newest version from the website, install it and it starts fine...until I close it, then it fails to restart with the same identifier. Each of the two times I have closed it I go through the same thing upon an opening attempt. Im now looking at different mail options as Im on SSI and have one shot at paying bills a month and cant afford to be any later than ssi already makes me, though my creditors have been thus far understanding. I now have to keep my computer on and the app open until Im paid on the 9th so I can be sure to be able to pay my bills. I dont know what you folks are shooting for by tinkering with an already flawless system but you missed this time I m afraid. Leave it alone or let us keep our working system while you offer "new and improved" to those who like to play with new toys. Give me back my old working system before Im forced to look elsewhere for a way to do my monthly duty to my creditors. Sincerely, Arthur Kelly

In Outlook, when I navigate to a folder and reply to an email in that folder, the email I send is automatically categorised into that folder, and no other copy appears elsewhere (such as in the 'Sent' folder).

Is this behaviour natively possible in Thunderbird without resorting to an add-on?

I realise there is the option to 'Place replies in the folder of the message being replied to' in the 'Copies & Folders' settings of the email account, but this places a second copy in the 'Sent' folder. I tried experimenting with the radio button options '"Sent" Folder on' and 'Other' in the same settings section, but no combination seems to place one and only one email corresponding to the email I sent in the folder I emailed from without creating a copy in the 'Sent' folder of the account.

I was sorry to see that the 128 Nebula release did not fix the longstanding problem that Thunderbird is very slow to load in Sonoma, and has been since the Sonoma release. This is with 128.0.1esr (64-bit) on an Apple M1 Mac Mini with Sonoma 14.6. I have the same problem on a 2018 Mac Book Pro running Sonoma with an Intel chip. The problem is NOT manifest on a 2013 Mac Book Pro running the last release of Big Sur. In all 3 cases the same email accounts are loaded, so it is some interaction with the OS. (I previously reported this for Tbird 115 under Sonoma, with no resolution.)

Specifically, when I start Tbird 128 on the Sonoma M1 the window comes up in about 2 seconds but contents are blank. The contents don't fill until about 30 seconds. This makes it painful to quickly hop into email to do something, so I am resorting to Apple Mail when in a hurry. If I do the same on my 2013 Big Sur machine, it's 2 seconds for the window to come up and 8 seconds for the content to fill. Upgrading from 115 to 128 did not change this on any of the machines.

None of the enhancements of recent releases are of sufficient value to compensate for this, so I wish the team would focus on ensuring speed on all platforms. Is there any clue what is going on?

From my inbox I normally highlight any emails I want to send to trash and press the DEL key. This morning when I tried to move these across I got a message advising that if I continue it would remove all files from my trash folder. My server settings are move them to nominated folder - see attached. How can I delete from the inbox and transfer to the trash?

The second problem I encounter is whenever I attempt to log into my Thunderbird account I am directed to go through the "Create an account" process as if I don't have an existing account???

I suppose the best place to start is when/where I think this problem started. Approx three to four weeks ago my thunderbird program stopped downloading emails from my server (Spectrum/RR). I say Approx because the problem sort of sneaked up on me without me realizing it was there.

I was using W7 and my hard drive was pretty much full and I was constantly getting messages that my email could not be downloaded due to lack of space. I started deleting stored emails and emptying the trash, which sort of kept me up and running for the past couple weeks. All this time my Gmail account continued to work as it should, downloading every email that was sent to me, but the Spectrum/RR account was spotty at best.

So today I fired up a new W11 computer for the first time. One of the first programs I installed was Thunderbird. When I attempted to set up an account using Spectrum/RR the process failed. I typed in all of the correct information, Name, Email, and Password but the account will not finalize. Instead, I continue to get the same message that the Configuration, Username or Password is incorrect.

I have since successfully logged into my Spectrum/RR web mail, so I know the username and password I am using is correct. I have also talked with Spectrum Technical support, and they have verified that what I am using to log in is correct.

I hope I didn't ramble on to much and someone can help me !

I am currently on Ver 115.12.2 (32-bit), but I've had this problem over several versions. I recently downgraded from the 64bit version (for a different reason), it had the same issue.

Old messages in the Inbox are listed twice, including those that have been read. New incoming messages are not duplicated, messages where I've deleted the duplicates are not again duped. Messages that get filtered to or moved to folders are not duped. Old messages that are in folders are not duped.

I have several email accounts in TB, and I only see this on my most active- of course! I have compacted all folders many times and rebuilt the Global Database with no effect. I tried opening in Troubleshooting mode and they are still duplicated. It is a POP account.

Background: I've been using Thunderbird for desktop for a couple of years now, and had no trouble with it. I use it to connect to email inboxes from a hosting provider. In the past, one of them was going through Google Workspace email (linked to my own domain), but I decided to go with Thunderbird instead. I did connect to Gmail once (if I recall correctly), to download emails from there. Then, all the mail server settings were set to those of my hosting company/my domain and worked well.

Today, after starting it up, I received a notification of a Thunderbird update (new looks, new nesting of connected emails, card-like look of emails), and I received a prompt to log in to the long-defunct Gmail account. I closed the window and went searching for the reason. All my mailing server settings seem to be fine. In the Thunderbird settings, in the Privacy&Security tab, Passwords section, I found several saved passwords relating to said defunct account. I deleted them all in hopes of solving the issue. Unfortunately, this only changed the prompt: from asking me to sign in to the specifically-named defunct account, it's now asking me to sign into Google account in general while the popup's header still refers to the defunct account. I also went ahead and downloaded the newest update. My Thunderbird seemed already updated judging by the version number, though none of the new features seem to be enabled, and some note mentioned that it's not an automatic update but one that had to be downloaded. Unfortunately, it didn't help either. The PC had been restarted. The pop up appears shortly (~1 min) after the startup, and then at random points of Thunderbird being open.

I'm out of options and at a loss of how to get rid of that constant pop up, and I feel like I'm missing something obvious. I hope someone here might help.
