Cannot send or receive GMail messages in Thunderbird

Good afternoon I have 2 accounts in Thunderbird - a gmail and a Yahoo. Both were running great from the time I set up Thunderbird about 2 weeks ago until yesterday when the gmail account stopped sending and receiving. The Yahoo account is still fine. I have not received a message in Thunderbird in my gmail account since, although I have logged in on the web and confirmed that there are incoming messages in my account.

When I attempt to send a message from the gmail account I receive an error message - "Add Security Exception". If I click "View" nothing happens. If I click "Get Certificate" the section "Unknown Identity" changes to "No Information Available". However, when I cancelled the message I noticed a new error message appeared - "Send Error Message" and when I returned to the main Thunderbird screen I noticed a new tab appeared "Certificate for smtp.gmail.com".

As you can imagine, I seem to be getting nowhere with this and as I am only an intermediate user with computers I don't know where to go next. Subsequently, I sincerely hope that someone out there is able to help me. Any assistance would be very much appreciated.

The following are my Thunderbird settings for the gmail account :- Incoming Server Server type : IMAP Mail Server Server name : imap.gmail.com Port : 993 User name : [myname]@gmail.com Connection security : SSL/TLS Authentication method : OAuth2

Outgoing server Description : Google Mail Server name : smtp.gmail.com Port : 465 Connection security : SSL/TLS Authentication method : OAuth2 User name : [myname]@gmail.com


A copy of the error messages as well as the Certificate are attached.

I'm on Windows 11 Pro 23H2. This is a pristine installation, downloaded from mozilla.org, default settings, no add-ons. - Firefox 126.0.1. - There are no cookies, history or cache to clean, since it's a fresh installation. - Connection settings is set default to "Use system proxy settings", although I've also tried setting it up to "No proxy", then restarting Firefox completely, then trying again with a new domain. No change. - DNS over HTTPS is set default to "Default protection". I've also set it to "Off", then restarting Firefox completely, then trying again with a new domain. No change.

I don't what else to try and I don't know what's wrong with Mozilla Firefox.

Can you help?

For months, Firefox will not load pages, like for google for instance. I will press Enter to load the page and it just won't do anything. Sometimes quitting and restarting fixes the issue, sometimes it doesn't. It isn't my internet, as I often have to open Safari to load the page instead, which always works.

I just did a refresh of Firefox, but the issue persists. It's getting to the point of potentially switching browsers. It's frustrating to have to switch browsers if I need a page to load.

On my main Firefox screen, I have a tab to Office 365. When I click on the tab, there is a series of icons on the left side, including Outlook. Until recently, clicking on the Outlook icon would bring up all my Outlook emails with the blue envelope first bobbing up and down with new emails. Now, for no apparent reason, when I click on the Outlook icon, all that happens is that another tab for Outlook shows up near the top of the screen; nothing more. And when I click on the tab, nothing happens. I think somehow some interference is keeping me from seeing my main Outlook screen. What can I do to restore the visibility of my Outlook program?

I am experiencing an issue where the Firefox browser on my Xiaomi Redmi 13C device running the HyperOS Android 14 operating system is consuming a very high amount of system resources, particularly CPU and RAM. This is causing my device to heat up significantly and draining the battery life at a faster rate.The specific problems I'm facing are: 1.Firefox requires special permissions and settings to function properly on my Xiaomi Redmi 13C device with HyperOS, such as exempting it from battery restrictions or granting it "autostart" permissions. Without these settings, the app crashes or doesn't work correctly. 2.However, when I grant these special permissions to Firefox, the app then starts consuming an excessive amount of CPU and RAM resources, much more than my other browsers like Chrome or Brave. 3.According to the system monitor, the Firefox processes are consuming the following resources: RAM 372M, CPU 39.0% Process "org.mozilla.firefox:tab12" RAM 742M , CPU 20.0% Process "org.mozilla.firefox" 4.This high resource consumption by Firefox leads to my Xiaomi Redmi 13C device overheating and the battery draining faster, negatively impacting the overall user experience. I have tried various troubleshooting steps, such as clearing the app's cache and data, using a lighter version of Firefox, and checking for updates, but the issue persists. In Windows 10, Audible throws this error:

An Error Occurred An error occurred during processing. Please close this window and try again.

Other browsers are fine. Other media in Firefox such as BBC Sounds are fine. I cleared the history, then reset Firefox. I thought it might be an issue with the latest Realtek driver, but I could not roll back all Realtek drivers. So I installed an Asus DS Xonar 7.1 PCI soundcard. This shows exactly the same problem.

I am unable to either log in or access accounts on the websites indeed.com, x.com and chatgpt's openai.com

I used different computers (Windows 10 and Windows 11), different networks (Public library and private residence), and different versions of Firefox (125 and 126.0), one browser without any add ons and another with the "uBlock Origin" one, and I kept observing captcha or human authentication related errors.

With x.com, I would pass the human verification challenge (solve 10 puzzles), and then I would get the error "Something went wrong. Due to a technical issue, we couldn't complete this request. Please try again." I've just started getting error messages that I need to enter my password to send emails. I've tried that but it still keeps saying unable to connect to the server. This has been happening for about two days now. I've tried updating Thunderbird, restarting Thunderbird and restarting my PC. None of this has worked. I made no changes to my system, software or home network. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Dave

I can't remember when this problem started, but the volume dips down for maybe 1-2 seconds shortly after the start of anything with sound, like YouTube videos and MP3s embedded in a website. On the same phone with Chrome, the problem does not happen.

Has anyone experienced this? I made a screen capture that demonstrates the problem, alternating first with Chrome, then with Firefox (then both again) -- https://youtu.be/GB116jauaX4
