I was working on my computer yesterday, and it suddenly went black. I checked the connections to make sure that it hadn't just run out of power d/t battery running out, but the electric connections were fine. I restarted it, and Firefox had been uninstalled within the couple of minutes that it took to re-start it. Gone! I've tried to reinstall it, but got a message asking if I really wanted to do that, as it could be bad for my computer to go ahead. Also, I just tried to add the troubleshooting info, and it looks like all of my documents are wiped, too. Help!

Hello clarknk, sometimes a problem with Firefox may be a result of malware installed on your computer, that you may not be aware of.

You can try these free programs to scan for malware, which work with your existing antivirus software:

Microsoft Security Essentials is a good permanent antivirus for Windows 7/Vista/XP if you don't already have one. Windows 8 has antivirus built-in already.

Further information can be found in the Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware article.
