Hi,

I am testing out firefox 4.0 beta. However, I need to set a custom user agent.

I need to append on a code such as p:2335 - which is used by our company website to identify a specific browser. I used to be able to do this in all other versions of firefox -3, but not 4.0 beta 5 by setting an general.useragent.extra.something

Is this a bug or by design?

Help would be gratefully appreciated, Thanks,

James

This is by design, support for using general.useragent.extra.something has been removed.

The only option that I am aware of is to totally replace the user agent by using general.useragent.override

The problem with using that approach is that you will need to amend it every time you update Firefox if you want it to show the correct Firefox version.

There is more on the way. Some related bug reports:
