Firefox Version 104 Up to date.

Re: https://www.familysearch.org/tree/ I normally use this site daily faultlessly. They did a major update on Saturday, Aug 20/22 and since then I cannot view images (in their old and new versions) and get this message: 'Attention: This site does not support the current version of your web browser. To get the best possible experience using our website we recommend that you upgrade to a newer version or install another browser."

I am a long time user of Mozilla programs and I refuse to change browsers. This problem is not occurring elsewhere. I thought it might be Mozilla VPN so turned it off but that changed nothing. Help appreciated, Fran

Hi singer35, I don't have any issues with Family Tree or the Family Search Home sites. My first thought was VPN but, as you said, you turned it off.

Try - Menu -> Help -> Troubleshoot Mode... Firefox will restart and a Troubleshoot Mode options window will appear. Do NOT select Refresh.

With Firefox closed, first make sure Firefox is not running in the background, then, hold down the Shift key while launching Firefox. (If the Profile Manager opens, select a profile and then hold down the Shift key again while clicking the "Start Firefox" button.)

Troubleshoot Mode is a debugging startup mode available where all added extensions are disabled, the default theme is used, and default localstore settings (toolbar settings and controls) are used. Troubleshoot Mode also disables hardware acceleration, the Just-in-time (JIT) JavaScript compiler, and any changes made via userContent.css and userChrome.css. Any changes made to preference settings remain in effect in Troubleshoot Mode, however, and all available plugins are used.

To summarize:

Troubleshoot Mode temporarily affects the following: All extensions are disabled. The default theme is used, without a persona. The Just-in-time (JIT) JavaScript compiler is disabled. The userChrome.css and userContent.css files are ignored. The default toolbar layout is used. Hardware acceleration is disabled.

Safe Mode has no effect on the following: The status of plugins is not affected. Custom preferences are not affected.

You can remove all data stored in Firefox for a specific domain via "Forget About This Site" in the right-click context menu of an history entry ("History -> Show All History" or "View -> Sidebar -> History").

Using "Forget About This Site" will remove all data stored in Firefox for this domain like history and cookies and passwords and exceptions and cache, so be cautious. If you have a password or other data for that domain that you do not want to lose then make sure to backup this data or make a note.

You can't recover from this 'forget' unless you have a backup of involved files.

If you revisit a 'forgotten' website then data for that website will be saved once again.
