Three problems.\

1. Today, Sept 8, 2018, I try to bookmark a page. The only options I have are Bookmarks Toolbar, Bookmarks Menu, and Other Bookmarks. Any folders I had created do not show.

2. I dislike extremely the new bookmark interface that came up when I installed Windows 7 about 2 months ago. It used to be very easy to bookmark a page by creating a folder and then bookmarking the page. Now (before whatever the latest problem is, described above), the default option is "Other bookmarks." I have to click and click to put things where I want them and to create folders. It is ridiculous. What the heck is Other Bookmarks? Why is this so damn cumbersome? I don't even want to bookmark stuff, it is so time-consuming and click-intensive.

3. What is up with this darn Library icon? More clicks.

5. Why isn't there a way to just click and add a bookmark TO A FOLDER quickly like there used to be?

6. NONE of my old bookmarks show up that are in folders. The only ones that show up are the ones I didn't bother to put in a folder, but defaulted to Firefox's crazy Other folder.

HELP!! Thanks.

It is likely that these folders are collapsed and that you need to click a folder to expand this folder and see all the folders within these folders. There would normally be a, possible faint, twisty present that indicates the current state (collapsed or expanded).

You can add the "Bookmarks Menu" button that shows the bookmarks in a drop-down list to the Navigation Toolbar via these steps:

  • click the bookshelf 57 library icon icon on the Navigation Toolbar or alternatively use the Library menu in the "3-bar" Firefox menu button New Fx Menu drop-down list
  • click Bookmarks
  • click "Bookmarking Tools", then click "Add Bookmarks Menu to Toolbar"
The Bookmark Menu button Bookmark Menu icon (star on tray) should appear on the Navigation Toolbar.

You can also drag the Bookmarks Menu button from the Customize palette to the Navigation Toolbar

Thanks, I did have that done already, and your explanation was detailed. The problem is, that doesn't solve the problem of ADDING bookmarks.

Hi, please try a Refresh but Note that this does more than uninstalling and re-installing does. Normal uninstalling does not remove some preferences which may have become corrupt. Please Refresh but do this 1st:

then

Or if not willing to go that far : Profile : Make a new one and test ...:

What do you get if you click the second button on the folder line (the one outside the folder field at the far right)?

If the folders you see there are collapsed the double-click the Bookmarks Menu folder orb the Bookmarks Toolbar folder if that is where you want to move the bookmark to.
