typing English thinks it's spanish

At least in Hotmail, Firefox and probably other text entry situations I type in English and my spellchecker says that 95% of what I've typed is spelled incorrectly. It appears to be looking for Spanish(I think) rather than the English that I typed. I've checked everything I could think of from the help menus. I believe I have the latest Windows 8.1 and the latest Firefox installed. Can anyone help.

You probably have this spell check add-on selected as the "Language" to be used in Spell Check. Diccionario de Español/México 1.1.3 (es-MX@dictionaries.addons.mozilla.org)

Thanks that dd it. I had to restart and it didn't tell me.
