At one time I had a version of Thunderbird that would allow me to bring in my Outlook emails. Now, I can't find it. And when I try to use version 102 or 115 it keeps updating to 128.1. Mozilla thinks I'm on some kind of release channel - whatever that is! So, am I no longer going to be able to get those Outlook emails? Thanks.

For the past two days (Aug 20,2024) I have received NO emails and CANNOT send. I get the message, "because the connection to Outgoing server (SMTP) smtp.gmail.com timed out." I have tried reloading Thunderbird with no results. The email zfhanna@gmail is also on my phone. My Tbird is on an IMac and Windows 10 laptop. Neither works. For Wifi I use a satellite provider.

Thunderbird 115.13.0 (64-bit) on Linux using filters to forward to an alias on localhost ignores the nsswitch.conf settings and attempts to send the email to the main configured SMTP server instead of via the localhost SMTP server for the email address being forwarded to, which is process@localhost.

This process alias is defined in the /etc/aliases file and my nsswitch.conf file has file dns as the hosts: values.

The alias being sent to is supposed to process the email being forwarded and write the result to a file.

Hi all,

I received an email from my outlook.com.au address yesterday with an important image attachement. However, I did not notice the yellow bar with option to enable remote content.

This particular email was replied to by other recipients and therefore it was threaded.

Somehow I have lost most of the thread after trying to see where the attachments were.

The email is still there on other clients as well as the MS web interface. I can see the full thread in another tab in conversation view.

If I do a search for it in my inbox via the search function, it is there.

How do I view this email back in my inbox?

Regards,

Steve

I have Thunderbird set up to download email from my ISP to an inbox under that account. A few days ago I saw that when I deleted a message it did not go the the Trash folder. When I look at the properties of that folder it shows a blank for location and while the message is deleted from the inbox it disappears. I do not know how that location was lost or how to restore it to it's previous value.

Hi, After migrating email server, I am having problems synchronizing some IMAP accounts, but Thunderbird is unable to organize the emails and it corrupts the display. In Webmail it is normal and I have no problems accessing it. Coincidence or not, but the emails that are causing this problem are emails that have more than 80Gb. What I did to see if it would improve, was to divide the emails into folders by year, to reduce the size of the email occupancy, but it didn't work. At first, right when I implemented it, they asked to modify this configuration:

Edit → Preferences → Advanced → General → Configuration Editor. Follow the procedure: Locate a key called: mailnews.customDBHeaders Change it to: Received After that restart the application --> Right click on the folder and go to Properties --> Repair Folder

This worked for a few days, but then it started having problems and even repairing the folder, but it didn't help. What they told me was an issue with Thunderbird reading email data on their server, but the problem continued. They kind of "washed" their hands, since it's ok on their server and asked to test it on another email client. Has anyone experienced this problem? Attached is an image of what the email looks like, there are several with the data that I asked to repair, but empty. I've already updated to the latest version of Thunderbird, but it's still like this.

The cursor in Thunderbird is difficult to see when composing emails. My Windows settings have not been customized. All the online articles suggest changing Windows cursor or mouse settings, and although that does change things for Windows, it does not affect the cursor size or color in Thunderbird. Are there any ways to make the cursor darker so it's easier to see?

I'm still having a problem with automatic collection of email when I launch Thunderbird. I followed directions sent me to turn it off, but that didn't work. Either I misunderstood or did something wrong. I'm not the sharpest tack in the box when it comes to these things. How do I control when my computer asks the server for email? Thanks much!

My Windows laptop crashed today. When I restarted and opened Thunderbird all of my emails were not listed and it prompted me to create an email account - it is behaving like a new install with no profile.

I checked "about:profiles"and it lists the correct existing profile folder as "This is the profile in use".

Clicking "Open Folder" displays the files in my existing profile and their "date modified" property updates whenever I restart Thunderbird, so it must be accessing the correct profile folder. Yet it is behaving as if there is no profile.

Perhaps a file in the profile folder is corrupt?

It has been a week or so since I backed up the folder and I don't want to lose all of the recent email messages.

Is there something I can do to that will make Thunderbird recognise my profile properly (and retain the recent emails) ?
