How to completely reset Thunderbird preferences except for configured accounts? I mean all visualization preferences, menus, themes, buttons, whatever. But don't touch e-mail accounts.

I've been looking for a solution to an annoying problem for a while now but I can't figure it out. When I reply to an email from Thunderbird the quoted text should be hidden in the recipient's client but instead it appears as a normal text making my emails too long and annoying for the recipient. Is there a way to get around this problem?

Hi, When receiving an email I want to reply by making a text comments in the received text, with clear identification of what is my new addition. E.g. by starting my lines with my initials and a new colour of my comments. I.e. An in-text-dialogue Is this possible to configure in Thunderbird? Br / Gunnar Sjolander

I'm trying to switch from Outlook to Tbird on Win10. I have my email hooked up. Can I use my Outlook Calendar and Contacts? How? I have a yellow message that says "All calendars are currently disabled. Enable an existing calendar . . . " I have no idea how to do this. Same problem importing Contacts. Is this because Tbird is made for Unix? I have version 128.1.1esr (64-bit). I use default directories when installing. Thanks for your help, Steve

Like the poster on the above mentioned question, I have done everything suggested, but Thunderbird still puts messages into the Junk folder. How can I achieve this? Is there any way to set up TB to have only ONE Delete action per keypress? That does not mean a limit of one message per Delete keypress -- for example, if multiple messages are selected, then a single Delete keypress should delete all selected -- but just that the Delete key must be released and pressed again for successive Delete actions.

[Searching on this topic before asking, I noticed a number of questions regarding multiple unwanted or inadvertent Delete actions, which all seem to boil down to this question, but could not find an instance where this simple question was asked, let alone answered.]

I could not find anything in TB Settings or Config Editor (searching "delete", "keypress", "key"). There were a few suggestive Config Editor variables containing "key", but none seemed on-point. Is there any documentation on Config variables?

I finally upgraded to TB 115.4.0 from 102 and it is ok. I'd like to set some UI preferences; specifically to email list pane header and three panes (folder, email list, events) lines-per-inch (density). With regards to density I only have three options; small, medium, and large. I'd like something between small and medium. In addition, I'd like to alter the background color of the email list pane header and, perhaps, the email pane and events pane headers.

Since userChrome.css no longer works (I couldn't get it work at all), how do I go about altering this?

Hi - when I start Thunderbird my configured eadds (on different servers), Thunderbird (since nebula?) is downloading all emails from both servers and Thunderbirds opens all folders I created. It also looses some settings (color-marks of emails). Hope somebody can help - thanks!

in German: Wenn ich Thunderbird starte werden immer wieder alle emails vom server downgeloaded (zwei email-accounts auf zwei verschiedenen servern). Auch öffnet Thunderbird alle Ordner und Unterordner, die ich angelegt habe, um meine emails zu sortieren. - Ich vermute, dass das Problem mit dem update auf nebula auftauchte. - Ich wäre sehr dankbar, wenn jemand eine Lösung für das Problem weiß; besten Dank!

Hi, Thanks for looking! I prefer to drag important files to the Archive folder for future reference. When I recently went to find one I discovered most of the emails I have received since about November 2023 have been automatically been sent to the Archive folder as well as residing in my Unified Inbox. I use TB 128.1.1esr (64-bit) with 4 Gmail accounts if that is relevant. If anyone can suggest a way to stop this I would be very grateful. Cheers, D Ranyami

I'm trying to categorize some of my favorite and important email contacts by color so when messages from them land they will display in a specific color to make them easier to pick out of the rest. Is there a way to do this in Thunderbird?

Recently started using Thunderbird for three email accounts. Happy with it. I've just changed Your Name for one account, but when I send an email the old format of Your Name is shown as the sender. Can't find a way to correct that. Colin F

I have 5 email accounts we will call them A, B, C, D , E

Sometimes my A account doesn't want to connect, and it appears to just stall on that one account.

Is there a way to have the accounts download in a different order say start with D, then E, then B, A, C?

I know I can rearrange them in a different order on the left panel, but it still wants to download in the ABCDE order.

How might one be able do that?

How do I stop the annoying blue box that appears when a new e-mail is received? It doesn't work properly to begin with. IF I let it naturally expire, no harm is done, but IF I click on the 'X' in the upper corner of the blue box, it immediately transfers to that e-mail account. This IS very annoying. I was in the middle of making major edits to a Ladder Logic program when this occurred, causing me to lose my place. THANK YOU.

The blinking indicator of where the next character is to be typed in is over 15 characters long and it is annoying. I need to know how to get it sized to one character width like it used to be before the last update of TB. I have searched settings and I have not found how to correct it. Since it is blinking, I can not take a screenshot to show it, I can say that the last update of TB messed up a lot of settings and how it operates. Image is of my current version of TB.

When opening a pdf file to print, the setting at the top defaults to "Automatic Zoom". Can this default setting be changed to actual size? Some pdf's won't print the whole page, leaving part of the right side off.

The cursor in Thunderbird is difficult to see when composing emails. My Windows settings have not been customized. All the online articles suggest changing Windows cursor or mouse settings, and although that does change things for Windows, it does not affect the cursor size or color in Thunderbird. Are there any ways to make the cursor darker so it's easier to see?
