I have the strangest problem. If Firefox is closed and I do a speedtest in another browser, download a file, or do other internet activity I'm getting about 200-250Mbps d/l and 100Mbps upload. As soon as I open Firefox, whether I load a page or not, the upload speed stays the same, however the download speed drops to about 25-50 Mbps. This only happens on one PC, the upload isn't affected, and resolves itself as soon as Firefox is closed. Here's what I have done without any change in this behaviour;

• Rebooted
• ipconfig /release /renew /flushdns
• Removed and reinstalled the network adapter
• Enabled, disabled windows auto tuning and tested (slower disabled)
• Updated Windows
• Refreshed Firefox
• Uninstalled Firefox, deleted remaining folders from Appdata (Local, Low, Roaming) as well as the program file directories and "Mozilla" registry entries. Restarted and reinstalled. Issue immediately resumed when Firefox was open.

Also when connected to a VPN Firefox download speed increases to about 60Mbps and is consistent across other software. If I split tunnel another browser outside the VPN, it is still stuck at 60Mbps. If I close Firefox the speed increases.

This makes absolutely no sense to me, so I'm hoping someone can shed some light on this - but it does seem to be something Firefox is doing.

I'm getting this Server Not Found page error very often with a message that says; "Hmm, We're having trouble finding that site" on a black screen with a doubleclick.net address in the address bar and some options to check my internet connection and firewalls, etc.

Hello, Mozilla Community I'm contacting you to request assistance with a Mozilla Firefox issue that I'm experiencing when trying to access the following website: https://themonak.com/www-bageltechnews-com/. I'm not sure if there's a bug in the website, if it's incompatible with some browsers, or if the browser is blocking anything, but it won't load.

Does anyone else have experience with this issue or suggestions for a solution? I've tried clearing my browser's cache and deleting extensions, but the problem persists.

I would appreciate any guidance or thoughts on making the website easier to use. I appreciate your help in advance.

Up to 126.0b9, files with encoded URLs in their filenames downloaded normally. As of 127 onward, however, it gets changed to _3A instead of %3A, etc. Is there a setting somewhere in config to revert this?

For the past couple weeks, comments on WSJ articles and opinions have not shown up in Firefox. They show up just fine if I use Edge. I'm running Firefox 128.0.2 on a Windows 10 computer.

I run uBlock origin. I tried disabling it, but that has no effect on the problem.

Some months back when I get gmail from the Economist and try to go to an article the gmail links to I get this: Our apologies. An error seems to have occurred. The article actually appears very briefly but then gets overwritten by this error message. I am using an up to date Windows 10 PC.

When I go to Microsoft Edge this behavior does not occur. In Firefox I have tried clearing the data and cache but to no avail.

Any thoughts on dealing with this? I do not want to go through many heroic steps to fix this.

This [previous question] previous question is archived, but it exactly describes and explains the problem: when only pinned tabs are open when Firefox closes, then on startup - when restoring the previous session is enabled - the previous session is restored and a new tab is created. This is annoying, so I "fixed" it:

That's a gist of an html file that will automatically close the tab it's in. It does involve using about:config, so use appropriate caution. Just set that to be your "homepage" in the Firefox settings and the new tab will likely disappear before you even notice it. You can tweak the delay if it's not fast enough or you want to savor the impending doom of the offending tab.  :)

I installed firefox from windows app store, because it would not install from the mozilla download. I did install however it will not connect with any web address. Absolutely none, I have tried all the typical solutions and none have worked. I had firefox for many years. I had to uninstall and do a fresh install. I am on a desktop running Windows 10 Pro X64. Hi all 👋 I'm using the Universal Credit website - https://www.universal-credit.service.gov.uk When I receive a message, sometimes there's a radio button to "Reply", which initially opens in the center of the page as normal, but as soon as I place the cursor in the box, it shoves it off to the side and shrinks it. This has been going on for a while, but as I found work for the last 6 months, I haven't been interacting with the site. I had to reply this morning and had the same issue, so I thought to try opening it in Chrome and had no such issue.

Before I go down the Nuclear route with the "Refresh" option, as I have enough on my plate already, does anyone understand this issue and have any idea for a fix for me, please?

I stopped using Firefox because of the level of BS Big-TEch involvement and lack of PRIVACY. I've been using BRAVE. But they are'nt much better. So I'll switch between as I feel fit. Just so you know. My recent irritation is Shortcuts. I like the speed and convenience of CHOOSING & USING my shortcuts.

I do NOT like the option of "sites you save or VISIT" That is NO option. I DO not want YOU choosing to save every site I VISIT and loading onto my screen. This is not a choice. Just because I visit a site WHY do you save it to shortcuts? It's a PITA deleting crap I don't want.

You should ONLY save the sites I CHOOSE to add.

I can see my current usage of Firefox being cut short again at the point of annoyance with this parasitic tech.

When I'm composing a message there, and copy some text from i.e. that thread page, this thread page, a google search, etc. in the Firefox browser, and try to paste it into my message, nothing happens.

However, If I paste the item elsewhere, i.e. in my test editor, and copy it from there, then I can paste it into the answers.microsoft.com. thread message.

I initially thought this was some Microsoft site restriction, but I don't experience this in Chrome. Not only can I paste into a thread there, but I can copy something on that page and paste it into that Microsoft thread in Firefox.

So I suppose. strictly speaking, this is a pasting problem.

If you are currently using a normal window then there are ways to open a bookmark or link in a private window. But if you are currently using a private window then how would you open a bookmark or link in a normal window?

I have tried several things including pressing shift+enter or choosing "Open in new Window" from the context menu, but this just opens the bookmark or link in a new private window.

My current method is to copy the address of the bookmark or link then paste it into the address bar of a normal window.

But is there a more direct method of opening bookmarks or links in a normal window, if currently in a private window?
