I'm at my whit's end. I recently switched to Firefox because Chrome has become utter junk. I was even able to find an extension that adds the download bar I need. Things were great. But no longer.
I need Firefox to do the (what I think is very basic task) of opening a link to a PDF by opening the link in a new tab. BUT also downloading a PDF, when I click the download button on the outlook or gmail websites.
I have tried everything. I have read about the inline v. attachment dispositions. I have tried what seems like a gazillion ways to modify settings in about:config. (sry, i haven't kept a list of what i've tried, but if you're thinking of it, I've probably tried it.) Other browsers easily tell the difference and open PDF links in a tab, and download PDF links (but they have other things that make my using them impossible). Why can't firefox?
No matter whether I set the default action for PDF downloads to "save file" or "open in firefox" the "dispositions" of the files that other browsers recognize just fine is not read in firefox. And, no, I am not going to set it to "ask every time." I deal with way too many PDFs to add yet another think to constantly choose and click into my work flow.
It.Does.Not.Work.
I'm at a loss. I have to have this functionality for my job. Please tell me it is possible. Firefox comes closer than any other browser I've tried (and I've tried so stinkin' many). But I have to have this.
(I'm running 128.0)
