Background: I have two PC's accessing profiles and data on an NAS device. Automatic upgrade to TB 128 went fine on laptop, but on desktop (which installed after laptop), TB did not find the desktop profile (I think--it displayed the create a new account screen when it started). I manually added accounts and pointed them to Local Storage location on NAS. Had to re-enter some settings (e.g. incoming email notification), but all seems okay on email side.

However, my calendar and tasks do not display. I use a local calendar, plus Google, which was not showing in 128. Added Google and it works fine, but local events and todos do not display. I located the local.sqlite file in my desktop profile and viewed it with DB Browser utility. I can see tables and I can find both event and todo data. I restored a backup from before the upgrade, but still no events/todos in TB (the backup file shows events/todos using the utility).

Any advice on next steps to fix this? Thanks.

Just updated to Thunderbird Nebula 128.0.1esr on Windows 11 and my calendars are all empty now. I have Google and Exchange (via OWL extension) calendars that have worked flawlessly up until this update, but all show no events in Thunderbird. No other changes have been made and the calendars appear populated in other applications.

Edit: Seems to have fixed itself after a reboot/on a different network. Still 128.0.1

Until I tried to set a task 5 minutes in size (I am logging timeboxing rather than setting things in advance) and the visual block had a minimum size that made it overlap even though the times don't (had this issue super heavily with google calendar, thought this could be the saviour but ig not). I'm not a C++/JS programmer I only know lua, html and css so I could take a look at the source code but I've also never built anything and I'm not sure if this will be as easy as tweaking a value.

If anyone has expertise and it doesn't take them that much time I would appreciate it if you could send a build where the event block can be visually any size you set it to. Thanks either way

After an update a few months ago, all installations of thunderbird always open the calendar tab when the program starts. Previously, calendar tab only opened if I opened it (or maybe if it was left open when last shut down, idr now, sorry). This is only a nuisance, having to close the tab each time I start tbird.

I didn't post about this immediately, as I figured others would experience the same issue (or related) and devs would fix the problem. But it has been several months now and this does get to be annoying. I know that merely clicking a close button shouldn't be that big a deal, but I don't understand why this would become the default; moreover, why there doesn't seem to be any way to disable the calendar or at least modify this new behavior.

I've been using tbird for at least a decade and found it to be reasonably simple to use. I use the calendar function, but only for some installations. I would appreciate being able to change the behavior of the startup or maybe just disable calendar altogether where it isn't needed.

Thanks.

As many have noted, this change eliminates the ability to search for past calendar items. It was a useful ability, especially for interval checking (say, "How long since my last dental hygiene?") but for many other tasks as well. Search of past events needs to be reinstated, if not in the previous manner, then in another - and sooner rather than later.

After updating Windows 11 machine to Thunderbird Nebula, I am asked for a password when trying to subscribe a public nextcloud network calendar. I have installed this same calendar dozens of times on our school staff's desktops, so I know how to do it. I am pretty sure the upgrade broke it.

I have three calendars and if I happen to forget to change which Calendar an event belongs on it will not let me edit that event to choose the correct Calendar. I can edit anything else on that event and I can choose a different calendar but it will not make the change when I Save it.
