Hello! Since I couldn't find help in the forums, I will create a new question. For about a year now the PC at my work will not open mailto-links correctly. There is no account to select from, the subject has a lock-symbol. The receiver's address is correct though (I replaced it with "address" for the screenshot). This PC is the only one I know with that problem and only with external mailto-links. If I click on an email address inside a mail, it opens it correctly. Thunderbird version 115.11.1 (32-Bit), Win 10

It's pretty impractical, so I am hoping for help. Thank you!

Since you sent me an email asking if I have any questions, I'll try a third time with my question. Frequently, when I close an email--either by selecting it in the Inbox and then pressing Del, or by clicking the X on the tab of an open email, the remaining emails in the Inbox disappear for awhile (progress in re-displaying them is shown by thermometer at lower right). However if I click another folder, say Drafts, and then re-click the Inbox, all are instantly visible--except of course for the one I wanted deleted.

Any thoughts?

I'm a writer. In keeping with the Law of Primacy, my first work is usually my best work (after a few tweaks). I recently had to write an email response to someone for the Darling Bride and me.

I waxed poetic and wrote an incredibly diplomatic response to a most unpleasant situation. After completing the entire message down to our signatures, I selected "File" and "Save" to make sure it was all saved in the Drafts folder. That way, I could open it on another device and read the draft to her.

Imagine my shock when I opened it, only to find that the draft stopped in the middle of a word - while I was correcting a typo - and didn't save anything after that! Frantic, I went back to the computer I used to write it, hoping the entire email was at least saved locally. Nope! The draft stopped in the middle of the message, even though I had saved the entire thing.

Perhaps this isn't high priority for a lot of users... but for those few of us, it's a critical, fatal flaw that has to be resolved. I can't even imagine that I did anything wrong: I saved the message before exiting; and opened to find half of it missing. I love the idea of Thunderbird and its privacy features, compared with the data-mining big names. But I can't afford to lose data! This was a personal response, thankfully, and not related to my work as a writer and author. However, I have to trust my email client with the data I save to it. Any hints to prevent this are greatly appreciated.

When I restart Mozilla Thunderbird, my S/MIME certificate preferences under Account Settings seem to break.

When I initially select a certificate, both the common name/certificate name and the certificate fingerprint appear in the interface (see Working Settings.png). However, after restarting Thunderbird, only the common name/certificate name appears in the interface, and I cannot use S/MIME to sign messages (see Broken Settings.png). When I attempt to do so, I receive the following error message:

Send Message Error Sending of the message failed. You specified that this message should be digitally signed, but the application either failed to find the signing certificate specified in your Mail & Newsgroup Account Settings, or the certificate has expired.

To be clear, Thunderbird has no problem finding and using the certificate right after I set it—the problem only appears when I restart Thunderbird and the appearance of the certificate in the settings changes. The certificate does not expire until April 2025, so this is not the issue. The issue also occurs with another account using a different certificate that is also unexpired.

I am using Thunderbird 115.12.2 (64-bit ESR) on MacOS with Apple Silicon.

Hi I have been having issues with my Thunderbird emails which would not send or be received. Now I can send but not receive.

Whenever I use it or open it I get one consistent error message as follows:

"Could not connect to mail server mail.transitioncoachingbedford.co.uk, the connection was refused"

And on sending emails I get a pop up error that says:

"your message was sent but a copy was not placed in your sent folder due to network or file access errors".

I've turned the firewall off, I've uninstalled Thunderbird and re-installed but can't fix. I've read through suggestions for fixes on other issues that sound the same but am not at all computer minded and don't understand most of the suggestions.

Can anyone please help as this is my business email. I've got access to the emails on something called RoundCube but not sure what to do.
