Hi, I just bought a new Windows 11 Ideapad laptop and installed Firefox 109.

The laptop display has a resolution of 2560x1600. My external monitor has a resolution of 1920x1200, so both are 16:10.

If I duplicate displays and just use the external monitor, which is what I have always done, Firefox renders all text as very blotchy, like a printer that is running out of ink.

Edge looks fine on the external monitor. I installed Chrome and it also looks fine.

I have a attached some sample images. I used my phone to take photos of the monitor. I noticed that if I used the Windows Snipping Tool or FF's built-in Take Screenshot that the image was darker and clearer in the selection box than when it's normally displayed.

I read a lot of comments on forums about various setting changes to try in about:config under gfx.font_rendering. Many folks say that has helped them. I tried lots of those setting changes, but none of them helped.

Also in those forums some folks said there was a change in rendering from FF 108 to 109, so I installed FF 108 but it looks no better.

Since I normally just use the external monitor, when I looked at the laptop, I suddenly noticed that Firefox on the laptop display looks fine.

Some online searching suggests using "Extend Display" in Windows if the laptop and external monitor resolutions do not match. I tried that and then Firefox looks fine on the external monitor. The laptop senses the different resolutions, it seems, and changes something that helps Firefox.

I prefer just using the external monitor. Duplicating the display is an option, though not my first choice. My other options are: Buy a new monitor with 2560x1600 resolution, except that I just bought this monitor recently so that's wasted money. Return the laptop since I've only had it 2 days and get one with a 1920x1200 display. I had considered one of those, but it was more expensive and opted for this one.

I'm trying to understand why this would only affect Firefox and not Edge or Chrome. Are there any ideas on that and if there is a way to remedy it?

Thanks, Ross

Had Firefox for many years. Generally, install updates automatically.

Most recent update a few days ago (109.0 (64-bit)) has stopped all on page links. I even try to hover over, view and copy links, and they don't show up. Try to advance pictures in a rotation display - no response. The only change was the auto update.

I have been using firefox for several years. Have my bookmark icon on the menu bar on the right hand top. The drop down list of bookmark appear on the right and submenus appear on the left of the drop down list. Recently one folder began showing the sublistings on the right side, it used to display them on the left. All of the rest are displayed on the left side.

The titles of these bookmarks displayed on the right are some of the shortest in length.

Is there a way to set this back to the left side?

I have had 2 sites produce this error box in place of the target Web Site (See Picture). I have read previous topics about this and have followed the instructions with no positive results. FYI, clearing the web site's cookies, clearing Cache and disabling Hardware acceleration.

The first was https://www.walmart.com. After leaving a "Feedback" 2 weeks ago it appears as if they were able to fix the problem. However, the site is not as important as my Medicare PPO provider. I tried loading previous versions of Firefox, but that did not help.

In both instances the LOL "support" people's response was to try a different Browser. So, I reluctantly loaded Google Chrome and it worked perfectly. From my perspective, this eliminates everything to do with my machine setup.

Below is the sign-on URL (not unique to me). Please note that this 668 character URL has not changed for over a year. It is just Aetna's adoption of the Imperva Security Firewall. Both my Winders 8.1 and Winders 10 machines produce the identical results.

A couple weeks ago Youtube videos stopped working on my PC. It keeps spinning and tells me to try restarting my device which does not help. Have tried several suggestions I've found, like clearing cache and cookies and history, disabling extensions, but not uninstalling and reinstalling because Youtube plays fine in Edge and also plays in Firefox on the other user on my PC. I appreciate any suggestions. Thank you.

I have a dozen old embedded device modules (circa 2003) which can host a web page. When I access the device through my local intranet (192.168.0.xxx), the web page displays correctly. However, when the same page is accessed through my DNS service (xxx.gotdns.org:xxxx) over the web, the Firefox INSPECT:network tool indicates that the document is type:text and displays the HTML in a text format. The first line of the HTML document is :<!DOCTYPE html>.....

These devices are non-secure information-only devices, but at least Firefox allows for HTTP: exceptions.

However, I cannot understand why Firefox treats the same content differently depending on the path. Is there a way to force Firefox to actually look at the contents of the packet and treat it accordingly?

'Why isn't there a way to stop scripting/redirecting when you click on a link? For example you click on a link thinking you are going to download something, but you are redirected to an AD site, or a Game site. Someone is racking up "clicks" for cash.

I.E. had a way to stop scripting altogether, or to allow you to choose to be be "asked" if you want to be redirected to another page, when a site wants to be redirected years age. So it shouldn't be that hard for you guys to set it up too.

I'm sure you just didn't think of it, but it is becoming a common problem with many sites, where someone manages to hack in a redirect an make some money getting "clicks", and worse, tricking people into downloading bogus shit programs like chromius.

I've been using FireFox for a long time. My account is installed on two computers. The operating system of one is windows 8.1 (from work) and the other is windows 10. (from home) On December 7 or 8, 2020, my login list was suddenly deleted while I was working on my account with windows 8.1. I turned SYNC back on, but I couldn't get any of my recordings.

When I opened the same Firefox on my windows 10 computer at home, my login list was erased in less than 5 seconds.

I followed all the procedures on your help page. My login list is automatically erased when SYNC is on. I tried many times. It automatically erased my login list that I created from backup every time SYNC is on.

I request your help from Mozilla and Firefox authorities and review my account if necessary. I would like to see and use my November 2022 login list the same way if possible.

Thank you for your support

I run a Windows laptop, version 8.1. Two days ago the monthly system rollup occurred followed by Firefox browser updates. The user comment section of the Foxnews website disappeared completely. I can still login and out but nothing appears for any article comments. I see the comments are still there when I open a Chrome browser on my Android phone so I know Fox didn't discontinue user commenting. I have looked at add-ons, ad blockers, etc but no success reactivating this feature.

Anyone else having this problem? If so, is there a known cause/solution? Thanks
