I have tried to change the account settings for my hotmail emails, but for STMP settings Oauth2 was not listed as an available option. Please advise. I am able to access hotmail emails on an Android tablet, but need to reset Thunderbird on my laptop.

I need Thunderbird to keep upper-case letters at the beginning of sentences when I do this. I also need my name to keep the first letter upper-case. Show me how to do this, please.

I have set the retention policy on my Thunderbird account for 30 days both in the setting for the inbox and the All Mail inbox and I have used the same setting for my account however it only works on the inbox and I have 1745 message in the All Mail folder which intermittently deletes the older messages and then restores them.

Am I doing something wrong?

I already searched for this topic and found that there should exist a file named "msgFilterRules.dat" - but there isn't such file nowhere on the whole drive.

Looks like the message filter rules are actually stored in a file with another name...

But what's that name?

I recently updated Thunderbird. Currently now running 128.1.0esr (64-bit). The highlight colour (when I place the cursor on a message) is now a dark brown. I need to change this to another colour so that I can 'see' the text of the header. Have played with colours in Settings, General - these changes do not change the default highlight colour. When I Reply the cursor used to default to the text so I could just start typing my message.

Now it defaults to the address field. How can I go into the hidden settings to change it?

I like customizing everything, and when i used Outlook, when i rightclick on a email i could chose immediatly to send that mail forward to someone.

but in Thunderbird, i get :

mark as unread - answer - ( here would send forward be nice ) - archive - marks as not wanted - delete.

is it possible to change archive to , send forward :)

not a biggy, just if someone knows how to do it.. that would be nice :)

I have 10 email accounts in my Thunderbird 115.12.2 (64-bit) and I am using Microsoft Windows 10 Pro and all my sent, draft, archives and templates are going into a different folder. I want them to go into the folder from which the email was sent but they are all going into the email tinakeeling@att.net.

I have changed it to reflect the correct folder but then a few days later and every time I restart Thunderbird the program changes the folders back to tinakeeling@att.net

I have even unchecked the box "place a copy in" and when Thunderbird is restarted it reverts back.

What can I do to fix this issue?

How to completely reset Thunderbird preferences except for configured accounts? I mean all visualization preferences, menus, themes, buttons, whatever. But don't touch e-mail accounts.

I get many messages with with unreadable text/background color combinations; near black text on a black background for instance. I searched for an hour on the web and played with themes and settings and couldn't find a way to make all received messages readable.

Does an imported TB profile overwrite the existing files in a new TB install?

I set up one existing account and have imported the profile for all my TB accounts. I am hesitant to import all of the profiles because of the one (oldest account) could be overwritten and TB did not leave any messages on the gmail IMAP server.

The other accounts do not exist on the new install (new machine)

I'm on tb 128 and use roadrunner. I see my emails on spectrum server but can't download them? I was using pop, they said imap is needed.

Hi, I'm new here and need some help. I use gmail as an email client and I want to use Thunderbird to save all my emails there. But when I delete them from Gmail, I want them to remain in Thunderbird and not be deleted from there. How to prevent the deletion of messages from Thunderbird using Imap? If I use Pop3, messages from folders or sent ones do not appear, that's why I use Imap, but when I delete messages directly from gmail, I see that they are automatically deleted from Thunderbird as well, how can I prevent this from happening again? Thunderbird was deleted from my computer same time it was deleted on phone. On reinsttallation I find that sent mail does not get savedd AND they want my password for everymove, then they tell me it is invalid. When I had TB before, it was not necessaery to sign in or enter a password. If you can't eliminate this needing to enter it at every move, I

I recently bought new Dell Inspiron and loaded Thunderbird as I have used elsewhere for very many years The folders are threaded which is usless for the way I work and I want to permanently disable this preferably in one action as I have many folders

Advice how to do this would be appreciated

I'm doing a major cleanup of old Gmail email messages. I want to quickly find the senders that have the most number of messages.

In Thunderbird, I set the view to All Mail, and then display in Card View. I'm sorting by From, and Grouped By Sort.

This gives me a useful view, but I can not find a way to sort by number of messages (in other words to display the senders in order based on the total number of emails from that sender and show me the number of messages.)

Is there a way to do this in Thunderbird? If not, are there any other tools/email clients that will give me a view like this?

How can I change the subject prefix (Re:, Fwd:, etc.) ? I would prefer "RE:" to "Re:" for my outgoing mails. "mailnews.localizedRe" handles recognition of incoming subject prefixes, but I found no pref for my outgoing mails. Thank you!
