I had to reinstall Windows 11 on my computer and I had Thunderbird previously installed on a removable drive "E". So my old Thunderbird profile and mailboxes are still on that removable drive. I installed thunderbird to drive "E" but the profile was put on my C:users...... directory.

How do I tell Thunderbird to look at the profile (and all my mailboxes that were set up under that old profile) that's located on the removable E drive?

As I understand it, Thunderbird does not load many images in emails by default because the external provider of that image would receive the user's IP address.

It seems like some clients, such as outlook.com and gmail.com, just proxy the remote content so the user's IP is only exposed to the proxy provider (Microsoft and Google).

Is there a way to achieve this using Thunderbird? When I check images from my Microsoft or Google accounts, Thunderbird still seems to be retrieving them from their original remote sources. Could it instead obtain them through the email provider directly?

Alternatively, I have a VPN, though I seldom enable it for all traffic. Is it possible to bind remote content loading to a specific network interface?

I've been using the same web hosting and email service for over 20 years -- a long time such that I've been on their "legacy" server for a number of years now. I've hesitated to switch to a new service, because they said they are not able to transfer my old emails to the new account.

I called them a couple of days ago on a different issue, and they advised me to migrate my account to a new service, promising that they now have the means to transfer my old emails. Thankfully I asked them to hold off, because I later got an email from their "escalated support team" that apparently I would need to backup all my email content, as it will not be transferred if I migrate to a new service.

My question is: How do I backup my emails so that they are still accessible if I switch to a new email hosting service? I am not at all tech savvy so any help would be most appreciated!

How do I revert back to a prior version of Thunderbird? The latest update has a great user interface but it has wrecked a few things for me. For some reason, some of the emails I put into folder (not in the inbox) now look almost like code. Also, I was using an ActiveSync addon to get an email address to work but now that is not working.

First.. I HATE threaded messages. I'm sure there are plenty of use cases for it but I truly despise all things threaded when it comes to e-mail. Yet somehow mozilla seems to believe that it must be that absolute best thing in all the world for everyone to use. As there appears to be no way to GLOBALLY disable the use of threaded messages. By disable I mean, I don't even want to see a threaded column. I never want to see messages from any folder or new mail account even have an option for threaded. I want the entire feature to be completely removed. While I'm sure that removal of said feature is pretty much something that isn't going to happen. It would be nice to have a way to simply not have it be used at all. I shouldn't need to go and highlight a bunch of folders or turn it off EVERY time I add a new folder. I HATE sort by threaded because I HATE threaded messages. So why isn't there a way to just turn it off.

So.. I'm using a DESKTOP version not a mobile version. And NO I don't want to highlight folders.. there MUST be a way to just turn off threaded completely.

Keep getting a problem with Gmail, since it went to the new security login OAuth2, it works for a little while with all the permissions granted etc, then I come back a little while later, I get gmail popups (see images) asking to give permission for TBird to access gmail mail/contacts/calendar etc. I was getting a bit fed up with it so removed the gmail account on TBird - BUT I still get the popups even though I deleted the account... It's driving me nuts (win11, desktop etc). I haven't got a lot of hair left, so any help would be gratefully received!

Hallo, ich habe Windows 11 neu installiert, nun habe ich das Problem, das angeblich mein Mail Passwort nicht stimmt. Ich habe schon alles ausprobiert, die korrekten Passwörter von T-Online eingebeben, die Passwörter geändert, nichts hilft. Ich habe auch schon Thunderbird neu installiert, doch alles ohne Erfolg. Könntet ihr mir bitte weiterhelfen, das ich dieses wundervolle Programm wieder nutzen kann?

Hier noch mein System: i7 6700 K, WIN 11 HOME, GTX 970Grafikkarte, 500 GB SSD, 16 GB RAM, 1 TB Harddisk,

but wasn't working for sending out emails I have even tried sending emails to different providers and different email accounts and it is not working at all. Regarding the connection with so-net mail has been solved. That is amazing for me that you attached Japanese so-net documents to me, it was sustainable a lot. After choosing POP3, I could see the Thunderbird mail this morning as the default setting.

However, unfortunately I cannot transfer existing my Thunderbird mail profile data import to my new PC yet. If you know the reason why, plase advise it to me, as I attached screen shot. Thank you and best regards, Minoru Takimoto

Recently my church moved the website to be hosted on Google Workspace. I am treasurer and still have that email account, treasurer@church.org, but have to access online via gmail. I have previously used Thunderbird to manage all the email, in and out, because I like it and it's better than gmail format, in my opinion. I cannot figure out how to add the email address for incoming and outgoing when the email address does not end in @gmail. I tried setting up as a gmail account but that didn't work. Any help and guidance is appreciated. Thanks

I'm not sure if this is a new feature in Thunderbird or whether it's due to me setting up a new account whose server was IMAP - but either way...

Sent and received emails used to appear in their own (linear) list but I'm suddenly finding that sends and replies are appearing now in something called a Collapsed List. These can end up out of sequence and (I assume...) it's not possible to delete one entry without deleting all the entries underneath it?

So is there a setting somewhere where I can go back to the original linear arrangement?
