At some point about 5 days ago, Firefox began to load YouTube videos unacceptably slowly. To begin a video it may take around 30 seconds or more to load (with a black screen and circular loading bar/graphic), and randomly throughout the video it will need to load again which has taken up to 5 minutes at times.

Steps I have taken: - ran Firefox in troubleshooting mode (issue persisted with no extensions) - minimized memory usage - disabled hardware acceleration - refreshed Firefox twice - reinstalled Firefox

Testing/comparing YouTube in Chrome and Edge, videos load near instantaneously (even while running an extension such as uBlock Origin), and I can click anywhere in the duration of the video and it loads in less than a second. Strangely, sometimes the issue doesn't persist for the next 2-3 videos that I try to play, but then goes right back to an extremely long load time for the next video. I've never had such an issue with Firefox before and cannot find a solution. Extensions don't appear to be an issue and other browsers run YouTube perfecty fine.

  • Firefox 127.0.2 (64 bit), Windows 10, all extensions disabled.
  • Tested also with a clean portable version (same Firefox version).

In private mode, on Google Images, large images (in the preview pane: if you click on an image in the search results) are sometimes (but not always) blurry. This is not the case in the "normal", nonprivate mode.

It works fine on Android, and other browsers also work fine. I have had this issue for a very long time now, but only now realized that it's a private-mode issue.

Example, which is reproducible for me: Search "site:linkedin.com new york" on Google Images and pick an image with a sufficiently large resolution.

I am using Windows 11 and FF 127.02. I have read the lag issue with Youtube was suppose to be corrected with FF 127.02 but it is not. I have been using FF for many years now an love it. It is my understanding that it is the ad blockers causing the slow down. Do you have an estimated date when this will be resolved. I have tried every trick included running it in diagnostic mode or trouble shooting mode. Nothing seems to work. Not even a refresh.

Thanks

For about a couple of weeks, there has been a lot of delay between what I type and when it actually appears. It's maddening! I have not changed any of my Firefox settings. I did a 'refresh' about an hour ago. I am not seeing any network activity that I cannot recognize. I d/l'd 'Malwarebytes' and ran it..."no threats". MS Defender has always been on & protecting me. I have never had this situation occur before and am hoping for some help (5 to 10 seconds to wait for what you've keyed in is not fun).

Three times in the last few months when I was forced to do a TeleDoc visit using my health care provider's 3rd party teleconferencing software I noticed that it changed my Windows 10 sound setting from the correct Optical (Digital Audio S/PDIF) to the incorrect "USB Audio Codex". Consequently, I couldn't hear anything until I changed the sound setting back to Optical. The 3rd time the user interface had changed significantly and for the better except that the sound setting had not only changed to USB Audio Codex, but it was stuck at that setting--so the Doc called me on the phone so I could to listen to what he had to say.

I don't think this is browser dependent. The 3rd time I was using Firefox, the previous 2 I may have been using Edge. I am still very surprised, think that it's a security issue (I'm using Bit Defender), and wonder how else Windows can be tampered with?

Please let me know what you think, and what my next step should be?

A few days ago I tried to download something from a modding website for a game, and the download simply failed instantly. I thought it might have been an issue with that website, but after pressing on with my plans with Edge and later trying to download Microsoft Visual Studio through Firefox, it failed again.

A week or two prior downloads were working fine, and I hadn't changed any Firefox settings between now and then. There's clearly something blocking downloads, but I don't know what. I'm not adept enough at fiddling with individual settings all day to know what they do or figure it out easily. All I know is that pretty much all of the conventional solutions from the most recent posts about this (2+ years ago) are not working. I've tried messing around in about:config and about:profiles, tried disabling and unchecking Firefox security settings, and changing the directory for downloaded files. I've even tried disabling Windows Firewall and Nord VPN.

I am trying to access the online library website for my college. I had no trouble all week then all of a sudden I keep getting this message: "Unauthorized LTI Launch Request 401

Your browser's "Block 3rd party cookies" or "Prevent cross-site tracking" setting can also cause this error."

I already changed the cookies settings to allow this website and my school's website. I don't understand the issue and why it popped up out of nowhere. I use firefox latest update on Windows 11. I do use a vpn but I used it the whole time, even when the site was working and I have tried turning it off. It doesn't help.

Version 127.0.2 for linux. Opening a direct link to a pdf file gives the error --- Downloading [file].pdf.part (header) [...].pdf.part could not be saved, because an unknown error occurred. Try saving to a different location. --- The file name is 144 characters long including spaces. I don't have any technical browser experience so I'll put what I know. These are the headers HTTP/1.1 200 OK Server: nginx Date: Fri, 28 Jun 2024 03:52:54 GMT Content-Type: application/octet-stream Content-Length: 4841076 Connection: keep-alive ETag: "65a096a5-49de74" Accept-Ranges: bytes Content-Disposition: attachment; filename="[144 char long filename].pdf" Everything seems okay. When I click on the link instead of opening as Save As, which I think it should, it immediately gives me that error. I have the ask me where to save thing checked. My home directory is ecryptfs. Ecryptfs says it has a max file name of 143 characters. Mine stops working after 140 characters or 144 including ".pdf". Anyways I think the file name breaks my file system. I was trying to download two pdfs. This is another one I tried to download earlier that gave me the error. It's definitely above the characters my file system can handle. https://download.library.lol/main/2860000/6148479dea7d8c9661201ecfc6108525/Alexander%20Brown%20-%20The%20genesis%20of%20the%20United%20States_%20a%20narrative%20of%20the%20movement%20in%20England%2C%201605-1616%2C%20which%20resulted%20in%20the%20plantation%20of%20North%20America%20by%20Englishmen%2C%20disclosing%20the%20contest%20between%20E.pdf It's public domain from the 1800s. I don't pirate. I was able to download it with wget while choosing a shorter filename. I don't know why it wouldn't let me choose after clicking the link. [solved] I have a few more problems I'd like to put in this ticket. A. After giving me the error Firefox crashed immediately afterwards. This was a few days ago. Firefox has never crashed like that before in months. I don't remember exactly what happened but it did crash. If crash logs are needed I can find it. B. After attempting to downloading a video (mp4) file this happened. The mp4 file didn't show up anywhere but a -1 byte part file showed up. It took the name of a subfolder in the folder I had intended to download the image file. I'll explain it in further detail below. I attempted to download an image in /home/user/Documents. In the Documents folder I had another folder which I'll call example. So /Documents/example. I did save the video in Documents but I don't think that mattered. After closing the save as box that popped up after clicking save video I noticed the weird file show up in the Downloads tab. It showed up in the "example" folder and took the name "example".part. Remember I never chose the "example" folder but I did choose the Documents folder. All my files inside the "example" folder broke and I couldn't delete the weird part file. Clicking properties showed the permissions could not be determined. When I interacted with it (I think I tried deleting it) it gave me an error with "gvfsd-admin daemon". I don't remember what it said exactly. I applied my folder's permissions to its contents and I was able to delete it. It doesn't show up in my downloads manager now. I ran clamav and everything was fine. Note I downloaded the video from a trusted source, twimg or the twitter video host. That's all. I'm almost certain it's due to the filename length. Cancel that. I didn't realize the "Applications" thing did that. I'd suggest to override the "Applications" preference if an error saving occurs. I'd still like to ask about A and B though.

Hi, I have been having this issue for a while. The search suggestions in the address bar are missing. I mean that the entire drop-down box never shows up. There are no search engine suggestions. There are no history based or bookmarks based suggestions.

The search suggestions is ticked in the settings. And I also disabled hardware acceleration.

Steps I took to troubleshoot: 1. Refreshed Firefox through troubleshoot mode. 2. Restarted firefox in add-ons disabled mode. 3. Tried creating new profile. 4. Tried using Firefox nightly and Dev builds. 5. Got fed up. Switched to Floorp. 6. I also tried a bunch of about:config modifications, that were suggested in earlier such support posts. None to any avail. 7. Tried it on an entirely different windows. And again, the minute I log in, the search suggestions are gone.

This is when I realized, the issue was popping up whenever I log in using my mozilla account. I tried any firefox alternative without logging in and the search suggestions work. The minute I log in with firefox account/mozilla account. The search suggestions stop. This has to be something due to sync is what I guessed. And I stopped sync. And reinstalled. Then the issue resolved. But the minute I log in it reverts back. And no search suggestions.

The search suggestions do not work on any windows based system. I checked my android device and suggestions are working. Sadly, I do not have access to any other platform.

So at this point I was very much frustrated. So someone please help me out. I will give whatever logs you need. But fix this. I need search suggestions. At least bookmarks and history. I believe it to be a core part of the experience.

Not even recently searched are in suggestions. That drop-down box itself is missing.

I want to print a Firefox PDF document. It is a credit card statement downloaded off the issuer's website. The PDF file Properties dialog shows Page Size 6.92 x 14 in (Portrait). The thumbnail preview of the document shows the pages in the 6.92 x 14" format. I want to print this document to 8.5 x 11" paper WITHOUT HAVING THE DOCUMENT SHRUNK TO FIT THE SMALLER PAPER. Shrinking the document results in a printout that I cannot read without a magnifier. This is unacceptable. I don't care if the bottom 3" of each page are cut off (mostly that 3" is blank anyway). All I want is to be able to print out a document I can read. NOTE: I have tried using the print dialog option "Size to [choose % magnification]," instead of "fit to page width." This does not work. The print image stubbornly refuses to magnify, the print preview still shows a legal sized document crammed into letter sized paper, and I'm still stuck with a shrunken document with teeny tiny text that I can't read. NOTE: I have also explored using the "simplified" print setting instead of "original." All that gives me is a text explanation and the original document itself disappears. So no joy there either.

Hello, In order to log into Netflix I have to uncheck the Cookies box and Private Browsing box in Privacy and Security under Settings (I usually run with these enabled when just browsing). When I do this it asks for a Restart. Upon Restart the Netflix Login page always appears on its own. I am curious as to how Firefox is getting steered to the Netflix Login page when it is not being specifically told to go there. I assume it is somehow tied to the unchecked boxes. It's not a big deal to me but I am curious about what is going on in the background and the dynamics involved. If someone has the time to explain what is happening I would appreciate it. Thanks you !

And thanks to Mozilla in general for keeping Firefox so excellent.

I recently converted to Firefox from Chrome. I use wikipedia a lot, and am used to being able to quickly enter 'w' into the search bar to bring that up as the first result. This was something that I could do without hassle on Chrome, but not something that I can consistently do on Firefox. My settings are synced across devices, yet the first result for 'w' in the search bar is (was) 'www.google.com' on my desktop, and 'wikipedia.org' on my laptop. I created a bookmark for wikipedia.org named 'w', which didn't work, I wiped any instance of 'google.com' from my search history and now 'w' in the search bar gives me 'www.youtube.com' instead, wonderful.

Any advice would be great

My question is fairly simple. I have multiple microphones available to the system, shown in the first screenshot below. Most of these are physical microphone inputs, but I've also created a virtual device.

I am only able to use 3 of these, consistently the same 3 devices, in Firefox - shown in the 2nd screenshot. Interestingly, one of the devices that shows in Firefox (Teams Audio Device) I cannot find anyone else on my system. https://www.onlinemictest.com/ is a good site to allow selection of the audio device, but I get the same results across all sites that use audio - google meet being the big one.

I've gone through all settings menus and played with everything that I can find - resetting microphone permissions, clearing cookies.

I've accessed the same site (https://www.onlinemictest.com/) in Firefox Dev Edition, and I *can* select from my full range of microphones.

Interestingly, and just something I've noticed while submitting this issue, the debug info *does* include the mic devices missing from the menu!

Can anybody help me look into what's keeping my list of mics in this 'frozen' state, and stop me from having to use Chrome for work meetings?

Cheers!
