Dear Firefox developpers,

I am a desktop/netbook-with-no-touchscreen user. So I don't like GUI that are touchscreen-oriented, meaning bigger icons or bigger stuff that needs to be touched with the finger : it just wastes space on the screen, especially the netbook one. Furthermore, I am one of these users that like to have the page tabs just above the page itself, and not above the URL field and the personal bar. It seems to me much more logical as the page and its tab are "linked" with each other. So, please, bring back into the post 28 versions of Firefox the possibility to choose the location of the tabs and the Firefox 28 GUI !

Thank you very much for your continuous effort to bring us a free and secure browser.

PS : I meanly use Firefox because of the Noscript add-on. Without it I would continue to use Internet Explorer...

Hi Alan,

The interface you see in Firefox 29 is a major re-design (first one since Firefox 4) of Firefox's user interface called "Australis." We could argue about the UI similarity between 29 and Chrome but what good would that do? Main point is that Firefox is still way more customizable than Google and way more secure.

If you don't like the new Australis look, you can revert back to the view before Australis using the Classic Theme Restorer addon

If you want to go back to 28 entirely, you can do a quick Google search and you should find out. I'm not going to link it here because I'd be recommending a less secure version with possible security holes in the future.

@ Moses

Firstly, Firefox is an awesome browser and I have been using it since it first rose out of the ashes of Netscape... many moons ago.

The new GUI does look nice and it has some nice new features ...BUT ...

what on earth are you guys doing???????

Has nobody ever thought to ASK users whether they want a brand new GUI installed when they update??? Did it not occur to anyone at Mozilla that there are thousands of developers in the world with customised GUI's who might not want theur GUI wiped out and replaced - without warning???? In the past, when we received notification stating we need to update NOW because of security issues, we update, and that is that. There was no mention this time that this was a new GUI too. If you had warned me, I for one (and by the looks of the comments here and on the internet, many many others too) would not have upgraded.

Please do not get me wrong, I appreciate everything you are doing, but this is a serious oversight.

I am a programmer working on some pretty important projects with the banks ... which run of browsers - and my GUI was customised for my work, something that took hours to setup over a span of 6 months. This has been wiped out in a split second due to your complete inconsideration with NO solution because your theme restorer cannot restore my cutomised GUI..

This is unacceptable, and to say I am fuming is the understatement of the century.

IMHO You guys have seriously dropped the ball this time. I cannot believe you did this

Hi,

I'm sorry that this didn't meet your expectations and please note that everyone who is answering questions on this site is a volunteer and has no affiliation to the Corporation, Foundation, or Firefox developers.

From what I can tell, it looks like your trying to give feedback on Australis. If you want to leave feedback for Firefox developers, go to the Help menu and select Submit Feedback.

That info gets collected at http://input.mozilla.org/, where a team of people read it and gather data about the most common issues. That data is then presented in the weekly Firefox delivery meeting.

Feel free to use the old unsupported and insecure versions of Firefox. Please however remember that puts your System and personal data at an increased risk. You may then wish to mitigate that by having well rehearsed bare metal restore strategies or using a virtual machine.
