My wife discovered today that all email had disappeared from her inbox! She doesn't know how or why and neither do I. She is running Thunderbird 1.15 under Windows 7. I have already tried the Windows restore function on the INBOX and it didn't work. Tried a number of other methods and none worked. In looking around the Thunderbird directory and noticed a bunch of files named nstmp-1, 2 3 and 4. nstmp-4 has this morning date-time on it and viewing it in an editor it seems to be a backup of the INBOX. Is this true, and can it be used to rebuild her INBOX.

Unable to export bookmarks file. When I go to 'Manage Bk Mks' it is blank and states 'no items' (see screenshot) but I have all my bookmarks in the in the usual left hand pane. I've asked this question before and received no response. Can anyone help please?

I use the android version of your email app. I love it, easy to use and almost use the "Unified" Inbox all the time.

It would be nice to nice to have this facility for any type of account.

I have a notice in the bottom right of my Thunderbird screen stating 103mb of 110mb IMAP total (93%) has been used.

I presume there will be consequences should this reach 100%!

My mail server is showing no issues of quotas being reached.

Is this an issue that relates to Thunderbird quotas?

Can anyone advise how I can reduce the 103mb total that is being shown?

I have just altered my Hotmail settings in Thunderbird to take account of the Microsoft OAuth2 requirements. I can still send from Hotmail but cannot receive (download) incoming messages.

When I open Thunderbird, or check for email, I see the text "******@hotmail.com: Host contacted, sending login information......." at the bottom but no messages are downloaded, and eventually the text disappears (I know there are messages waiting as I can see them using the Outlook app)

My server settings are; Server type : POP Mail Server Server name: pop-mail.outlook.com Port: 995 User name: ******@hotmail.com Connection security: SSL/TLS Authentication method: OAuth2

I have always kept old emails in the LOCAL folders for security reasons not having all my info on a server somewhere that could be comprimized/stolen/scammed. I am now on Yahoo and have heard security is not the best so I am not sure I want to put all these files on their servers. Now, however, as my PC is getting old I am afraid it could crash, I assume I would loose all those emails-correct?. If I go into my TB Profile and find the Mail/Local Folder I can copy and paste it to a flash drive. Would that be the recommended way to back up? If I did this process a month from now would it, like a file, ask me to overwrite what is already there and add anything new? If my PC did crash, could I do the reverse and copy and paste that flash drive Local folder into my new TB profile? Thank You.

I've been using Thunderbird for many years with no issues. I opened it today on my laptop and all my accounts, settings, emails, calendar items, etc. are gone. It's asking me to set up an account. I have years worth of saved emails from 4 different accounts and they are all gone. How can I get them back. I am using Windows 10.

With about 60G of accumulated e-mail in several Microsoft accounts, I moved all accounts into T-bird and put most in local folders. This somehow became over 600G in size. Everything works and compacting seems to be getting done since it's been working some weeks now. Yet this ten-fold increase in size is unwieldy and very difficult to backup. Perhaps related, I notice that M'soft's "new" free Outlook app is present and perhaps running on this computer. And all the e-mails I send from my main Hotmail account are listed twice in the T-bird sent folder. About half of the times I start T-bird, I get a message saying that login to server outlook.office365.com with username xxxxxxxx@hotmail.com failed; the other accounts never do this. T-bird offers to retry, but that usually ends with a repeat of the same message. I've learned that if I let it open, with time, the e-mails do appear, though I don't know how or why. I've also been using Libreoffice successfully for months now though I doubt that anything to do with this. T-bird nicely solved the original e-mail oversize problem I had with Microsoft's size limitations and I'd appreciate advice on how to deal with what's happening.

I was getting warnings from my e-mail server that I was near the mailbox size limit, and Thunderbird displayed a percentage bar in the lower right corner. I've deleted a lot of large messages and want to see how far I am from the limit now, but now the bar isn't displayed. Is there a way to refresh this? Or is it a warning that's only pushed from the server?

(Unfortunately, my webmail site doesn't compute the size correctly and shows me at over 400%, so I can't see the actual size there until the server sends me another warning.)

I have an address in my address book that I received many emails from. About a month ago they started going to the bulk folder. How do i get that address restored so i can receive emails from them?

Followed the instructions in the article and cannot send email (SMTP error) "Login to server smtp.office365.com with username xxxxx#outlookcom failed"

Tried a new profile - no change Followed directions for using config editor and deleting two items - no change Could go back to original settings (turn off OATH2) but have to get it working by Sept so might as well slay the beast now.

I have 15 email accounts linked to Thunderbird mail and use up to 5 of them daily. Sometimes 'instant' communications on one or more of my accounts can be important.

Will Thunderbird mail still function in the same way from 16th September?

My son has a Hotmail account that he accesses (of course) in Thunderbird. Yesterday he received an email from Microsoft that seems to suggest that he will not be able to use Thunderbird to access this account after 9/16/24. Is this true?
