Inadvertently deleted a profile using Profile Manager

I found this somewhere: "Don't Delete Files" is the preferred option because it saves the old profile's folder and allows you to recover the files to a new profile. So that gave me hope because that's what I had clicked (unfortunately, it was right before I saw the cancel button over on the right). That's what I get for being in a hurry I guess.

Anyhow, after 4 days of reading support forums and tons of trial and error, I'm no closer to restoring that profile than when I first started (although I've learned a lot about what does NOT work).

Btw, both my profiles have always been set up as POP3 at Gmail, although if I ever get this current problem sorted out I'll be shopping for a different POP3 provider. But that's another story.

I know how to create a new profile with Profile Manager. And I found the Profiles folders under both Thunderbird folder as well as ThunderbirdOLD folder. Have I been on the right track so far?

In the Thunderbird/Profiles folder, I don't see a folder with the deleted profile name (except the new ones (duds) I've since created ). On the other hand, I don't see the name of the profile that I did NOT delete either, but somehow it seems to be working just fine. Maybe it's the ".default" folder or ".default-release" folder? I've only ever had two profiles and I may have created the non-deleted profile first, so did that one end up being named .default? -shrug- I have no clue.

Anyhow, in the ThunderbirdOLD/Profiles folder, I also see ".default" as well as ".default-release" folders too. But in addition, I'm seeing a ".deletedprofile" named folder. So that's where I originally thought my several dozen email folders with several thousand emails and Address Book etc are hiding. But I've copied all the above mentioned folders into the several new Profiles I've created, on a trial and error basis but so far..... no luck. All I get when I open one is the new set up screen to set up a new pop3 account.... which I can do, but that's just starting from scratch without any of my saved data. I'm running out of ideas.

Where am I going wrong?

After Thunderbird is running for a while, it "freezes" with a message saying it is no longer responding. When I click on shut it down it says it is reporting this to windows . After shutting it down windows 10 basically reboots (it takes a while) before I can click on the Thunderbird icon again. Been happening for several weeks.

After setting up a new laptop, I have tried to use Thunderbird to download the entire contents of my GMail inbox. When I'm logged into GMail via my Firefox browser, I can see 62,635 messages dating all the way back to July 2008. I installed Thunderbird and created a profile to access my GMail inbox via POP3. Then I set Thunderbird to download new messages. After a few hours, Thunderbird has downloaded 23,485 messages dating back to December 23, 2022. How do I get Thunderbird to retrieve the remaining roughly 40,000 messages all the way back to the first message from August 15, 2008? Can Thunderbird also retrieve messages from GMails Spam folder and drafts folder?

I have three accounts in Thunderbird. On one account Thunderbird freezes when I try to delete any mail in the inbox. I have removed all mails in the inbox and put one mail back (have tried several different emails)to test and it still freezes. This problem occurs when deleting from any folder in this account. Deleting mail in the other accounts works ok.

I printed an email from Thunderbird before responding to it. When I went to reply, it had disappeared from the Inbox. After some hunting I found it in the All Mail folder, but it refused to be moved or copied to the Inbox. Even when I forwarded it to myself it did not appear in the Inbox. The message was still present on the Gmail server but Thunderbird would not download it via Imap. Have I missed a setting or does Thunderbird consider an email to be deleted once it is printed?

The system continually tries unsuccessfully then blocks me for too many attempts. 1. how do I delete the two new accounts, one IMAP and one Pop, without deleting the original much used account? 2. How do I change the settings on the old account so it connects through the messaging.co now iinet no longer runs it? It should be IMAP not pop. My attempts so far have just created new accounts and more problems.

I need a sync of my addressbook on 2 computers, which I realize today with the the add-on "addressbook-synchronizer" and this is working really good! I'm working on PCs with Win10, and I use TB 102 with POP3 accounts. I would like the way Firefox is doing the sync, but I have not yet seen it in Thunderbird!

Are there prospects for the future to solve my problem??

Thought I had checked "Remove Account Information", but not Remove Message Data". Entire account disappeared. I've read the emails are still in a profile. How can I recover lost emails?

WisperISP is the company that has the server for my email. They had a server migration a few days ago & now I cannot sent out emails. Talked with their Tech dept & all of the settings are correct. They do not know how to help me! Here are the settings: Mail Servers -Incoming & Outgoing :mail.wisperhome.com Security: both servers :SSL IMAP Users: Incoming mail server port: 993 Outgoing port: 465 POP3 Users: Incoming port: 995 Outgoing port: 465 Login info:Username- rae1649@wisperhome.com Password - regular email password Authentication - outgoing - normal password
