When a mail group is created and a recipient has an alternate (non-default) email address which is used for purposes of the list, once the list is saved, the entry for the recipient changes to the default address rather than the chosen alternate address. For example, if an individual has both a home and work address with the work address as the default, how can a list which needs the home address be forced to retain the home address rather than reverting to the default work address when the list is saved?

I am trying to set up an existing Thunderbird email account on a new hardrive I can't remember my password and it does not give me the option to reset password. It wants to send the reset verification code to the email I cannot access without my password I've downloaded Thunderbird email pinned to my startup. When I open it up the 1st dialog box wants full name, email address, and password. I can't go any further to get in to my existing Thunderbird email account.

As of Sunday, Thunderbird can no longer reach my ATT server to download email. It has behaved for ten to fifteen years. Last time someone at ATT fixed it. I have been on the phone or on screen with ATT most of my waking hours since Sunday. (In the process I lost my internet, my landline, my cell connection, etc.) Everything is restored except the connection between Thunderbird and ATT. Everyone thinks changing my password will do it. Done it four times. It gets me into the ATT mail. I have replaced the password in Thunderbird settings with it to no avail. Is there anything you can think of? Not only is Thunderbird more attractive than ATT, I have thirty years of mail boxes there, a continuation from Eudora. I will appreciate your wisdom.

Can you please explain/investigate/rectify the fact that everything has disappeared from all the Thunderbird folders (In, Draft, Sent etc) on my laptop. I am jenny @davidbrownsundials.com and if I was not able to use my husband (david@davidbrownsundials.com),s laptop and the gmail account I use on my mobile, I would be totally stuck. I can write emails but no evidence remains. The best I get is a quick flash then everything disappears again. Help! I would be very grateful if this massive problem can be solved. Thank you Jenny Brown

Hi, I've been searching for an answer to this that actually works for me, to no avail.
I'm using the 115.12.2 (64-bit) version.
What I want to do is move my current profile, in /home/nunovski2001/snap/thunderbird/common/.thunderbird/emzi01vt.default/ to /media/nunovski2001/GST/emzi01vt.default/. I've done it before, I just can't remember how.

I have two different university accounts (one as a student and one as an adjunct). These accounts have the university domain, but they are through Gmail. Last year the university also instituted Microsoft single-sign-on for all emails.
Single-sign-on has the well-known, apparently unsolved, and extremely annoying problem that it makes it impossible to be signed into multiple single-sign-on accounts on the same browser at the same time. The solution to this problem so far is to use a private tab, or the Firefox "multiple containers" add-on, and separate one of the accounts into it's own container.
Thunderbird seems to have the same problem. I cannot connect to both accounts at the same time. The second one will not even open the popup to give credentials, and will always claim invalid authentication.
Is there some workaround similar to the Firefox browser workaround mentioned above?

Hi,
Let's say you're opening an email in thunderbird, and it's an email you've been exchanging with someone for a long time. As you scroll down, the older emails are indented to the right, making the view of the email "narrower and narrower". What is the setting or method to prevent this from happening?
Thanks in advance!

I have received an email from Microsoft on five out of seven of my outlook.com accounts which informs me :-
The safety and security of your information is top priority for Microsoft. To help keep your account secure, Microsoft will no longer support the use of third-party email and calendar apps which ask you to sign in with only your Microsoft Account username and password. To keep you safe you will need to use a mail or calendar app which supports Microsoft’s modern authentication methods. If you do not act, your third-party email apps will no longer be able to access your Outlook.com, Hotmail or Live.com email address on September 16th.
Is this correct or a scam. If correct, will Thunderbird be OK?
Cheers, Graham Davies. 9th July 2024.

Hello,
I updated to 115.11.1 (32-bit) and unified folders will not appear and the option will not stay checked. I have exhausted my options. I previously had 64-bit with same issue so I deleted and installed 32-bit as some said this would help the issue ( I'm on 64-bit windows 10 OS).
I've tried deleting smart mailboxes, virtualfolder and jsontreefolder
nothing is working, I am at wits end. Please help!

I have iinet.net.au as my email server. They changed to themessagingco.com.au. Initially there were no problems and I could receive messages and send then after June 3 I could do neither. I contacted iinet and themessagingco. for assistance. I spent heaps of time with themessagingco changing settings for incoming and out going mail but am still unable to send or receive on Thunderbird. Help required, as I want to continue using Thunderbird. I am able to receive and send through webmail for themessagingco but really want to use Thunderbird. Is there something on Thunderbird that needs changing? Helen

So, I had to delete my wife's email account (and I know people cringe when that's done), because no matter what, I could not get in with any password and Thunderbird was acting strange in general. I created a new account but no matter what it will not take any password I put in. It just continues to circle and goes no where! How do I create this account easily, as I have done in the past, and what do I do about Thunderbird not accepting ANY passwords? As I said.....no matter what I put in, the the password section it doesn't take. Its like this: Name: Email address: Password: Once I put in whatever password I'm using it just continues to spin (or think) and goes no where. Can someone please help me here? I would so appreciate it. I'm not a computer dummy, but Thunderbird is sure making me feel like one!! Thank you in advance!

There is a feature in outlook that I use all the time at work, where if I reply to a message in my inbox but I had already sent a previous reply, it will let me pick up my reply to include in the thread, that I reply to instead.
It would be great if Thunderbird would do that for my personal emails.
