I have a Thunderbird on my laptop with a big folder in the Local Folder. It has a labeled "mail window" having 5,044 messages in a folder named under the internals of the Profile as "Family" and "Family.msf". Under "Family" are at the next level called "Archive-A" and "Archive-A.msf". (This may not be a kosher "archive".) I tried to use NanaZip to prepare as a zip by Exporting it the other laptop's Thunderbird in our house, but the process seemed to hang before that could do it. Maybe there had to be two levels, I dunno. Maybe getting from a .ZIP to a .SBD....

Even if that had resulted in a useful .ZIP, I'm not at all clear how I could I succeed in importing it into the main profile on the other TB computer. I am defeated at this point.

I wish I had a "Thunderbird for Dummies", or at least a manual + a lexicon with acronyms.

Could someone help me out?

I am considering moving to Thunderbird from MS Outlook. I want the rules I have already setup in Outlook to work in Thunderbird. Is this possible & if so how do I make it work.

Would you please help me permanently remove cache2 folder from Local Folders please. I'm using Thunderbird 115.12.2 (64bit) on esr channel with Windows 7 Ultimate Service Pack 1 OS.

I don't want Local Folders / Cache2 folder (or incidently Inbox, Drafts, Archives, Junk, Deleted and Outbox) but Thunderbird highlight - right click - delete button doesn't get rid of it. I can temporarily delete the Doomed and Entries sub-folders with right click - delete - delete folder but they move to Deleted folder where once again they can be deleted the same way but when restarting Thunderbird they are back under the cache2 folder again.

Even after exiting Thunderbird and directly deleting the cache2 folder(s) in system AppsData - Local and Roaming Thunderbird profiles the cache2 folder (with persistent sub-folders) returns to my Local Folders when restarted.

If ignored I eventually end up having a cache2-1 folder etc.

why is there no back button on thunderbird? I clicked on a message (have to click twice on it now in the lousy upgrade I was forced to use), and now I can't go back to the inbox. What's up????

I would like to know what the options below, contained in the settings editor, are for and how I can adjust them so that every message sent is configured to require confirmation of receipt by default:

I have stayed on an old version of TB because of the old extensions that made it a much better product.

With the installation of Win 11 I decided to try the latest version of TB. I have to say I am not impressed. I forgot how much better TB was with the extensions.

My first question is how do I get to sort the order of items I see in TB? I want News & Feeds to be displayed above my email accounts. It would seem that this would be easy but I cannot find a way of doing it. What am I not understanding? Surely this should be simple? I want to choose the order of everything.

I also customised the interface with better scrollbars etc. None of the add-ons I used to use seem to work with the latest TB. At the moment the new install of TB is incredibily ugly. How do I change that?

I added a PNG picture as a background to my emails. Instead of a single background picture, it produces a collage (can't think of another word) of multiple copies of the same picture. Any way to just get a single picture?

when I search for Quicktext Tutorials i see a nicely working application which allows me to manage text components and include them neatly in my writing. But what is actually showing after installation is a bit meager.

I can choose between "variables" and "other". ""Variables" is of no use at all, Other" simly allowes me to include a saved file in text or html from a folder. Well, thats a bit stoneage like, but I would have worked with that option, but:

Unfortunately, there is no way that Quicktext will save textsnippets as html or text. I definitely do not see myself copying parts of emails into notepad and saving them manually. That would be a very lame automation and definitely not quick enough ;). Also I am looking for the sort of "preview" Outlook is offering with Quick Parts.

Does anyone know anything about this problem or can recommend a better addon? I hate writing the same stuff again and again and again.

Hello, ive been using T'Bird as my business email client.

Whenever I hit send it requires me to type the password in. How can i get it to remember it? Ive been through the settings and there is no option to save.

Ive tried deleting my account and adding a new one but its no different.

I have several sub-folders connected to my "Inbox". How do I have specific incoming mail sent directly to the different sub-folders? I had no problem doing this prior to Thunderbird 115.1 taking over my previous edition. Tried following the instructions under Settings but it wasn't very helpful.

I can't paste the link I get from Dropbox to connect FileLink for Dropbox into my settings. Why not? Even when I type the very long string by hand, it will not connect. What am I doing wrong? Is there a step I am missing? I really need this feature. Thanks- Pat Stoll

It used to be that we would see - in the account tree - a number telling us how many emails we have available to read. As you would open an email, this number would automatically reduce.

Now, not only do we get this email count, but I am getting an email count of ALL the email in an account folders (Inbox, Sent, Received, etc.). I don't know who invented this, but I do not want it.

How can I go back to Thunderbird only showing me my unread emails available?

This last week one of my inboxes started to group my emails by Today, Last 7 days,Last 14 day and Older. I find no option to change that back to showing all the emails in date order like my other email accounts. The other posts on this topic that I can find are all for older versions that I don't see the commands for in my version.

I am using version 115.11.1 - 64 bit.

I have two identical instances of the Thunderbird 115.11.0 (64-bit) installed on Fedora 40 (two different boxes) They display Email preview differently (See attached pictures)

Anybody knows how to change that view? What settings?

Hi is there an add-on or can the settings of Thunderbird be changed so that when an email notification on macos comes through, it shows the first few words of an email. This is helpful for receiving verification codes. You can know it just by a glance at the notification rather than open the email.

At the moment it shows the email from and subject but not the first few words of the email body (unlike iOS).
