Reset the passwords without running thunderbird

At work, I'm using Thunderbird 68.3.1 in linux with DavMail IMAP on a linux server to access an MS Exchange Server in the cloud (I know I know I know, but what other choice do I have, MS and MS loving IT groups suck). It had been working until last week.

While getting my VPN connection to my work site, I changed how I was accessing the DavMail server by changing it from 'hostname' to 'hostname.local.lan'.

After that change, I must have typed in my password incorrectly. At that point Thunderbird started checking my email over and over again and after three bad password attempts, the MS Exchange server locked me out.

A coworker was kind enough to send an email for me to unlock my account and I was able to log in through a web browser, reset the password, and see my unread email.

I killed thunderbird and restarted it, it asked for a password, I typed it in and then it proceeded to get me locked out again. So my coworker now owes two beers to the IT guy in Germany for unlocking my account 'after hours'.

I can't run thunderbird. It'll screw up again, I know it. I want to delete all passwords from Thunderbird without starting the app.

What text file do I want to massage?

Thanks much.

Open the profile folder, while TB is closed, and delete or rename key4.db, logins.json and cert9.db to delete all account and master passwords.

That did it!

Here's a request for the developers: If there is a login problem, stop trying. I mean, it used to be that way, didn't it?
