Starting a few months ago Tbird suddenly became noticeably slower, and it's only continued/possibly gotten worse, despite several version updates (which I was hoping would fix it). Currently I'm on version is 115.12.1 (64-bit)

I do have several accounts (all pop) and many folders, but nothing different than before the issue began.

I only have 2 add-ons enabled; Remove Duplicate Messages & SmartTemplates. I've of course disabled them and restarted TBird but it didn't help at all.

I've compacted and repaired all folders.

I've created additional folders to reduce the size of larger folders.

The only thing that helped a bit was troubleshoot mode, which definitely made it a bit better going from email to email and folder to folder, and especially with moving emails from one folder to another (which is usually very, very slow and I see it on the bottom saying "moving email 1 of 10 to folder xyz...moving email 2 of 10 to folder xyz...", even if they are simple/small emails). However, sending emails still took over 5 seconds (see screenshot attached), so that might be a separate issue.

In terms of sending emails, whenever I try to send any email it sits on the sending screen for several seconds or more. My internet is fine (2gb fiber, previously 1gb cable), speed tests max out at the 1gb my laptop can handle. Laptop is 2-3 years old high-end Eluktronics, with no other issues.

Given the above, and that troubleshoot mode did seem to help a bit (but straight out turning off add-ons didn't help), what can I try to adjust (while not in troubleshoot mode)?

In seeking a way to reduce the CPU & RAM usage, I read that perhaps turning on the Hardware Acceleration might help. And to do that, you must first de-select the default setting which says FF will use the best settings for my computer. Well, when I opened that section, neither one was checked! So, should I first try the default setting, and if that doesn't help, then try HA? I'd always heard not to use HA, for some reason, but I'm ready for trying anything that might help use less resources, and open webpages more consistently.

Which is the best setting to use, or neither one?

Its driving me crazy. When I select a group of Inbox emails, and delete them, it is taking forever. The window will display a "not responding" message, eventually clear that and then the emails are deleted. But it takes way too long. Windows 11, most recent update. Thunderbird, it just updated. I was on a Win 10 computer, same Thunderbird version and deleting took merely a blink to happen.

Win 10 has both VPN AND AV. Win 11 has neither. Help! Thank you,

Hi, the site "https://pixabay.com/" is suddently extremely slow with mozilla. The pictures don't showup or take many minutes before you can see them. Normally only white boxes show. The same site (pixabay) with the browser "Opera" works perfectly. I always use mozilla and since a short while it just doesn't work with pixabay (a site for royalty-free images). Have used Thunderbird for 10+ years, as interface to Gmail. Lovely product. 3 days ago I had to reinstall a station but when Thunderbird does its updating after reconnecting to gmail address for the 10GB of emails, it behaves damn irregular: - periodic freezes of mouse and keyboard, for about 0.3 seconds every 3 to 5 seconds. - Thunderbird message says downloading email number out of total number of emails (very slowly advancing) but every 3 seconds it starts downloading email 1 of those emails - station has cumulated some 20 hours working, most of these left to finish syncronizing. Usually in 2 - 3 hours there is time enough.

This happens only when Thunderbird runs, when I close it the station runs fine. Same hardware on the station as before..

Hi,

For some time now, when I download a .pptx, .xlsx og .docx Firefox changes the file format to .pdf when downloading the file. I then have to manually choose the correct app for opening the file, overrule error messages and delete the ".pdf" when re-saving the file even though it recognises it is not really a pdf file.

I've tried to change the Firefox settings, clearing cache, restarting or deleting in config and other small attempts to reboot whatever suddenly started to cause this problem. As far as I can see, it is not an unknown issue, but I've not yet been able to find a solution to my problem, which is getting on my nerves.

Hope you can be of help.

I have had some issues using Firefox and I was told that the website works better with Google Chrome by a support person. For the last recent issue, I was told a website doesn't work correctly basically with Firefox and that I needed to use Google Chrome or Edge. I recently received an email from Mozilla which had a link to an article titled, "Here’s what we’re working on in Firefox" at: link text and in the article in large print it says, "Bringing you the features you’ve been asking for." I didn't see any mention about increasing Firefox's compatibility with websites.

Hopefully, somehow comparability with websites will be made better.

When logging in to the online bank at DNB with Bankid, this error appears:

"A communication error has occurred. We are experiencing a communication error between your browser and the user site. The reason may be slow internet or problems with your browser. Try again in a little while. You can also try to delete cookies and browser data in your browser or try a different browser. Error code BID-5000 Reference DXP4VKOE Date 12/06/2024"

No other browsers show this error. I've tried Edge, Chrome, Vivaldi, Brave, CC Cleaner. The error starts after version 125.0.3. Today a new version 127.0 arrived. The same error appears.

I have uninstalled the latest version and reinstalled version 125.0.3. Then no error message appears. I have deleted cookies and browser data, but the error message persists. To your info, I've tried also on other PC's and the same Firefox version, and the same errormessage appear.

I look forward to you having a solution to the problem, otherwise I will have to use browsers that do not show this error. As I prefer Firefox, I don't want to use other browsers. But if the bug can't be identified and fixed in newer versions, I'm not happy with firefox and will use other browsers..

When trying to retried incoming messages, I keep getting popup that ask for my password. I tried to use the hidden password in the app, which till now has always worked, but get the following message:

"Sending of password for user (parrotdise13@att.net) did not succeed. Mail Server inbound.att.net responded [SYS/TEMP] server error - please try again later."

I have browser access to my att/yahoo parrotdise13@att.net account after changing my password. But entering the new password in the above mentioned popup produces same result.

Overnight, I suddenly cannot send emails. I keep getting an error code AUP #OUT-1500 that says: "The email address you are sending as must match the email address you used to auth. " But I have changed nothing. Everything worked fine Thursday when I went to bed; got up Friday unable to send. I can receive all day. And I can send using my provider's website, but I'd rather use Thunderbird as usual. What the heck just happened? None of the Support suggestions work. Thanks for any wisdom you can impart!
