I've noticed that after a few months Firefox ESR will go from being one specific version to two different version tracks. Eventually the older track is removed and the newer one is continued until it then splits. Can someone tell me why this happens and is there an easy way to swap over to the current track? I've included an attachment of what i'm talking about.

Hi Would it be possible to add a feature where, when sending an email, I can set an "Awaiting Reply" reminder? The idea is that if I don't get a reply by a certain date/time, a reminder pops up so I can follow up with the person.

Thanks!

Lost commands

I clicked something in the upper right corner on my Thunderbird email and some commands disappeared - Get Messages, Delete, Junk, etc. How do I get them back?

Since the update of Thunderbird 128.1.0esr (64-bit) it freezes every couple minutes on a profile with 3 email accounts. One - no longer used - has about 2300 emails and is kept to access old emails.

The second is my primary Gmail account with 4351 emails in Inbox and 2234 in Outbox. Inbox shows 1.2 gb and Outbox 911 mb. The freezing has caused very significant challenges with reading and sending emails due to the freezing. As it is my primary email it is extremely concerning. And I am in the middle of a couple huge projects so I am getting a lot of emails.

The third is minimal with 26 emails.

I know it is not the number of accounts in the profile as I have 4 other profiles with more accounts and none of them freeze at all. (I manage/monitor other websites and keep them all separate.)

Also as others have noted the Filter function is doing weird stuff and rarely works properly anymore.

I'm trying to work out how to save two different profiles on the task bar (a profile for my work accounts and one for my personal accounts). I'm nearly there and even had it sort of working for a while but the solution wasn't reliable and something somewhere breaks it after a while. I was wondering if there's a more reliable version than the way I did it.

I basically followed the instructions for adding two firefox icons to the taskbar, replacing Firefox with Thunderbird with a few adjustments. (https://www.reddit.com/r/firefox/comments/s2k5tt/have_multiple_firefox_profile_and_taskbar_icons/)

  • Create two profiles.
  • Create a Shortcut (on the desktop) for Thunderbird.
  • Drag Shortcut to taskbar
  • Open Thunderbird from the new icon.
  • Enter Config Editor (Tools>Settings>Config Editor)
  • Add taskbar.grouping.useprofile=true and browser.startup.blankwindow=false to the advanced config settings
  • Close Thunderbird and open it up again. You should now get two Thunderbird icons on taskbar. Make sure both are pinned.
  • Right-click one of the Thunderbird icon, right click the instance within and then properties. Replace "C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Thunderbird\thunderbird.exe"" with "C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Thunderbird\thunderbird.exe" -no-remote -P WorkProfile" in the Target edit box.
  • Do the same with the other pinned icon but with "C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Thunderbird\thunderbird.exe" -no-remote -P PersonalProfile" in the Target edit box.

One problem I have is naming the the two icons after I've created them. Sometimes for no apparent reason they stop working and I have to re-apply the target setting changes.

Any other, more reliable ways of achieving this?

Hello

This is not a question but for enlightement.

Sorry if I've done wrong whenever. I may have manipulated the session time on the first page that appear when clicking the Fozilla browser button.

And sorry if I've manipulated the session time here also

And if I've done it in one of the support pages, very likely one this one: https://accounts.firefox.com/oauth/?response_type=code&scope=openid%2Bemail%2Bprofile&client_id=30b11ae57025e70b&redirect_uri=https%3A%2F%2Fsupport.mozilla.org%2Ffxa%2Fcallback%2F&state=Gg4DpRxRFAzrGXBccfpUvdHhIjFND8Am&access_type=offline

By manipulating I mean staying longer than I really intended in order to manipulate how long you seen that I have stayed on a page.

Sorry that I anyways acted in a foolish way by thinking that I'd manipulate it or whatever, regardless if I meant it or not.

Thanks and all the best Simon Isaksson

I am not sure whether this is normal or not. I have never noticed this before, however i am a bit concerned. So about a week ago i was hacked, and i removed all the files and everything, and managed to get past with 0 damage. I installed Avast to scan for viruses and i have been using it ever since then, but it keeps blocking something from opening and i don't know what it is or whether its normal. It used to only block a blacklisted URL called: " 1.awakened.work". It scared me a bit so i went to check on the IP for the website and a bunch of information on what it is but i found nothing that meant anything to me. I uninstalled Firefox a few times and reinstalled it. I even completely removed all the files related to Mozilla but once i reinstalled it then 4 web URL's tried to open and got blocked named:" 1.awakened.work", "1.foreground.work", "1.6912044.cc" and "listitnow.org". I have no idea what these do or are and i came here to ask whether anyone knows how to stop them from even trying to open. When i removed Mozilla then they didn't try to open and only tried to open while i had Mozilla. I looked at the location of the files and it says they are the Firefox.exe so i don't know. I really love using Mozilla but if i can't fix this, then i will have to use GX.

Today, Firefox stopped playing audio on Facebook videos and won't play Netflix videos at all (Netflix error code: F7701-1003). Youtube works fine and has audio, but several other video sites I've tried have video but no audio. It was all working fine yesterday and I haven't changed any settings.

These websites work fine with both audio and sound on Microsoft Edge on the same laptop, so this is a problem exclusive to Firefox. OS is Windows 11 Home 23H2, Firefox is latest version (129.0.2)

Things I've tried: 1. Refresh Firefox settings 2. Download and install fresh copy of Firefox 3. Toggle DRM content in setting on/off - no difference no matter what is selected 4. Ensure that 'remember history' is selected 5. Check for Windows updates 6. Uninstall audio driver, restart and fresh install of audio driver 7. Ensure it's not in private mode 8. Turn off all extensions 9. Check volume mixer allows sound for Firefox 10. Clear the cache and cookies

I can't find any more suggestions on the internet, so any further suggestions welcome!

As noted by others about recently-prior versions of Firefox, version 129 ALSO fails to play videos (on Amazon Prime) at HD even though other browsers, Chrome and Edge as examples, work perfectly well. This problem MAY have started with a fairly recent version of Firefox (like 127 or 128). See the post right here by another user, earlier Firefox version, with the EXACT same problem:

I type something in Firefox, say "mice". A Google search string appears in the address bar, but it is greyed out, and nothing else happens. I have to go to that bar and hit Return to get to the search results. After this has happened once, everything appears to work as expected until I close the browser. On reopening, the problem has returned.
