For a while now, I've been having recurring issues with Firefox desktop freezing and becoming totally unresponsive. If there's any pattern to what causes it, I haven't been able to notice it; sometimes it happens as soon as I open the browser, sometimes it happens after several hours, sometimes it happens twice in ten minutes, sometimes it happens twice in a few hours (however, I can count the number of days it's happened less than twice in one day in the past few weeks on the fingers of one hand). When the browser freezes, it becomes totally unresponsive - it doesn't fade or display "Not Responding", and Task Manager shows nothing abnormal, but it doesn't accept any input at all, any video or other animated material that may have been displaying freezes, and it can only be "fixed" by force quitting from the task manager and reopening. This is exclusively a firefox issue; other programs open at the same time as the browser freezes are not affected.

The only real lead I have as to what could be going on is that sometimes, things don't freeze all at once, but in a cascading effect. For example, tabs, bookmarks, etc. might not highlight when moused over, but still accept the clicks, or selecting another tab might causes the address bar to display the URL of the selected tab, but the screen displayed in the window will not change. Once these cascading changes start, they generally progress to total freeze before I have a chance to do much with that information (only a few seconds), but it's unusual enough behavior to be worth noticing.

Things I've already tried that haven't fixed the issue:

• Reducing the number of tabs used and otherwise reducing Firefox's system resource usage has not impacted the problem in any way.
• Running in Troubleshoot Mode has not had a consistent effect on the problem (the most recent time I did, the browser ran stably for longer than I could stand to use the internet without my ad blocker, but this is only one data point in an already inconsistent spread; prior instances of the problem have occurred in Troubleshoot Mode)
• Disabling hardware acceleration has not fixed the issue.
• The issue has persisted through multiple refreshes and at least one full uninstall and clean reinstall.
• The issue persisted after creating and switching to a new profile multiple times.
• The issue persisted after renaming places.sqlite
• The issue persisted after clearing cache and cookies multiple times.
• The issue persisted after clearing downloads and history.
• And very likely some other stuff that I'm forgetting, I've been trying to fix this on my own for a while now.

I want to print a Firefox PDF document. It is a credit card statement downloaded off the issuer's website. The PDF file Properties dialog shows Page Size 6.92 x 14 in (Portrait). The thumbnail preview of the document shows the pages in the 6.92 x 14" format. I want to print this document to 8.5 x 11" paper WITHOUT HAVING THE DOCUMENT SHRUNK TO FIT THE SMALLER PAPER. Shrinking the document results in a printout that I cannot read without a magnifier. This is unacceptable. I don't care if the bottom 3" of each page are cut off (mostly that 3" is blank anyway). All I want is to be able to print out a document I can read. NOTE: I have tried using the print dialog option "Size to [choose % magnification]," instead of "fit to page width." This does not work. The print image stubbornly refuses to magnify, the print preview still shows a legal sized document crammed into letter sized paper, and I'm still stuck with a shrunken document with teeny tiny text that I can't read. NOTE: I have also explored using the "simplified" print setting instead of "original." All that gives me is a text explanation and the original document itself disappears. So no joy there either.

Firefox 127.0.2 (64 bit), Windows 11.

Suggestions?

When scrolling through online pictures or even while typing this note, Firefox dropdowns get really annoying! It seems to be triggered by right-clicking the mouse on a link, misspelled word or button. It really is a PITA! How to stop?

Can't get out of offline mode. It happen once previous but an icon was available and got back on. Now going to settings and nothing works. Surprisingly found nothing with Google nor Mozilla support. No email; big problem.

The offline option does not give off or on but option that I don't understand.

The file at the top shows offline and there doesn't seem a way to change (no check mark).

The moderator, 10 years ago, said uncheck on life or two blue line. No such think.

Computer is connected to internet. Shut down MAC and restarted. Still OFFLINE. I must be online but cannot download my messages.

Hello, In order to log into Netflix I have to uncheck the Cookies box and Private Browsing box in Privacy and Security under Settings (I usually run with these enabled when just browsing). When I do this it asks for a Restart. Upon Restart the Netflix Login page always appears on its own. I am curious as to how Firefox is getting steered to the Netflix Login page when it is not being specifically told to go there. I assume it is somehow tied to the unchecked boxes. It's not a big deal to me but I am curious about what is going on in the background and the dynamics involved. If someone has the time to explain what is happening I would appreciate it. When I launched Thunderbird today, it would not connect to one mailserver: imap.mailfence.com. At the same time, Thunderbird said to restart to update to 115.2.2. After updating, it still refuses to connect. There is nothing wrong with Mailfence and I do not find anything wrong with the configuration settings in Thunderbird. I even tried to set up my Mailfence email account again but it failed because it could not connect. Ideas? Thank you.

This there a "Global" Message Filter Rule where you can change an Apply Filter When: to ALL your Message Filters?

Example: I'd like to add "Periodically, every 10 minutes" to ALL my current Message Filters. Currently, it looks like I have to Edit each and every one of them?

I recently converted to Firefox from Chrome. I use wikipedia a lot, and am used to being able to quickly enter 'w' into the search bar to bring that up as the first result. This was something that I could do without hassle on Chrome, but not something that I can consistently do on Firefox. My settings are synced across devices, yet the first result for 'w' in the search bar is (was) 'www.google.com' on my desktop, and 'wikipedia.org' on my laptop. I created a bookmark for wikipedia.org named 'w', which didn't work, I wiped any instance of 'google.com' from my search history and now 'w' in the search bar gives me 'www.youtube.com' instead, wonderful.

Any advice would be great

My son has a Hotmail account that he accesses (of course) in Thunderbird. Yesterday he received an email from Microsoft that seems to suggest that he will not be able to use Thunderbird to access this account after 9/16/24. Is this true?

Hello, I Signed into and began using a New Firefox ACCOUNT Yesterday.Today,I found that I had forgotten that I formerly had a Mozilla account which is apparently still ACTIVE from 10/14/2021. I'm confused as to WHY it's called MOZILLA... Is it called Firefox or Mozilla for this Browser... and I don't want two Accounts... so I need to eliminate one. My iMac is Auto inserting My Password and I'm not familiar yet with whatever Browser I have, to locate a way to see the Password it signed me in on... ? the one I created yesterday... or the one that was created in 2021... Every time I have tried to use the NPR website's contact form, I get the message, "sorry, something went wrong and we were not able to send your request". Today, I accessed their website using Microsoft Edge and had no trouble sending a message using their contact form.

This continues to be a problem in version 115.12.2. It seems to happen only with older events rather than current ones. Clicking the X closes the reminder but it pops up later. I tried changing the event to turn off reminders but that didn't work. It doesn't accept the change. The only permanent solution is to delete the event from the calendar. I see this problem goes back many versions. It's time to fix this.

I composed an outgoing email message that I wanted to keep for future use, and saved it as a Template. That not only saved it under the unified Templates heading, but created a second appearance of my main email account with its own Templates subfolder. At that point I decided I really didn't want to keep it after all, so I deleted the message, but the second Templates folder didn't disappear; its still on the tree list as an empty folder. Right-clicking that folder doesn't have a Delete function, but it does present a Repair option, but running that doesn't help. How do I get rid of that unneeded individual email account listing and the empty Templates folder?

Lately YouTube playing videos have been playing super fast or skipping straight to the end. I mean, they are horribly fast.

Things to know:

• I am posting here because I can't determine whether browsers may have settings unique to them that I need to change. This also happens in Chrome, but not Edge.
• I was recently forced to upgrade to Windows 11 - I can't say this issue happened exactly at that time, but fairly recently after the upgrade. I am running Windows 11 Pro.
• This does NOT happen when playing in a private browser window, either Firefox or Chrome.
• Having the Mozilla VPN on or off has no effect.
• I am sure the playback speed is set to normal. I have tried changing the playback speed to anything but normal and then back to normal and the current video runs correctly UNTIL I play the next video.
• This does not happen with Vimeo.
• It does not happen in FF for Android.

Any questions, thoughts, or advice would be appreciated.
