Hello! Thank you for your help! I want to install my personalized version of startpage as the common search engine on my android mobile.

This is my personalized search string: https://www.startpage.com/do/mypage.pl?prfe=88c786572599bb1107d3c74eaec3b3ca5076330f9b0ee54884a22b7a784d2b0a689bbc9b7a89edd7438b53c487ee2e4e628759948e78c9e03a2a82c5107f459c595a56be6ab8c7def9ac63f6

But it is not possible!

On the mozilla helppage it says (translated from german): https://support.mozilla.org/de/kb/suchmaschinen-verwalten-firefox-android#w_hinzufugen-einer-zusatzlichen-vordefinierten-suchmaschine

"If the entered Internet address (URL) of the search string is invalid, an error message is displayed to help you enter a valid Internet address. Important: Make sure that you replace the search string with the placeholder "%s", for example:

https://www.google.com/search?q=%s https://www.startpage.com/sp/search?q=%s https://search.brave.com/search?q=%s https://www.ecosia.org/search?q=%s

But as you can see, in my personalized search string there is no placeholder! What to do to install nevertheless my personalized version of the startpage search string as the common search engine on my android mobile?

Thank´s a lot

Philip

First off it set the search bar and menu at the bottom of the screen and I didn't know how to change that. Then I couldn't sync with all my account passwords and bookmarks previously saved on other apps. I had to delete the app because the idea of privacy is great and all but I need to get access to my preferred websites and accounts easily. If you can provide an easy fix I will give the app another try.

Thanks.

I installed the "Google" app and the "Firefox" app. When I used the "Google" app to search for images, I found that I couldn't open the searched websites. I tried to use the Samsung browser or Chrome browser and did not have this problem. I think this is a Firefox bug.I recorded the bug and uploaded it to Google Drive. The link address is https://drive.google.com/file/d/11k5DMzshHkYvvGGD4MpgqrlSRcQnkiGH/view?usp=drivesdk

Hello,

I'm new to using a smart phone and have downloaded Firefox Mobile onto my Android phone. It works great when searching for a website but I have one that I already know and would like to go directly to it. Unfortunately every time I enter the URL I get a search for the website, not the website itself.

What am I doing wrong?

BTW, I'm not using my phone to post this question but rather my laptop (which I find easier to use). My phone is a Moto G Power (2020) using Android 11 and FF 110.0.1

Thanks, Andre'a

I'm a 54yr old man, and if I want to search for porn, I should be able to. Your browser doesn't have good results with porn searches. Why is that? Nothing but unrelated crap in images and videos tabs and the sites it offers in "all" tab list are minimal and most of the time unrelated to search criteria. It's as if it thinks I'm some child that needs a net nanny. Come on guys!

I have a link, https://aka.ms/linkedpc, that I'm supposed to enter into my mobile browser. However, the search engine hijacks it, even when I enter the full https:// prefix, and searches for it, returning the results where none of the links is one that I need.

How can I force FF for Android not to go through the search engine?

When I select a text from any website there is no option to search privately (unless you're already in private mode). Having Firefox Focus installed makes the option appear but it opens the link there aka in a different app, it would be a lot better if you need have to install another app and yes I know i can just do it manually by copying the text, switch to private mode, pasting and then finally searching. It would save you 3 taps. (The images are with the Firefox Focus app uninstalled, I can provide more with it being installed and how it works.)

On Android, we cannot enter data URLs in the address bar. (For example data:,String1 ) We are redirected to the Google search result. However, we can use data URLs from bookmarks. On iOS, Firefox rejects any data URL even from bookmarks. At the same time, Chrome on Android and Safari on iOS don't have any issue with data URL. Why does mobile Firefox handle data URLs differently than the desktop version? Is it a bug?
