I use to watch ESPN videos streamed in FF. I have FF latest version (41.0.2) and the non-working websites are espnplay.com and foxplay.com. It is not a problem with my cable provider since I am able to stream videos in Chrome. In fact this issue started a few weeks ago; until then I could watch videos in FF as well. I do not have a problem streaming videos in youtube.com or any other website for that matter. It looks like the video keeps loading but never buffers. OS is Windows 7 64bit. Thanks for your assistance beforehand,

Fernando

Chosen solution

I found the guilty one my friend! (I wonder I should have better things to do on a Saturday night but... that's not this thread's topic) Here it is: HTTPS Everywhere. In fact, I didn't even need to disable it, but just to disable one of its rules for the ESPN site. The rule in question is called "Conviva (partial)". I don't have the least idea of what's it about (very common when one plays with unknown stuff). In case it's useful for some analysis, the other eight HTTPS Everwhere's rules for the ESPNPlay.com site are: Facebook NR-data.net New Relic.com Go.com (partial) Google APIs BootstrapCDN.com (partial) Twitter.com Akamai But these may remain enabled; it's "Conviva (partial)" the one that blocks the player (by the way, I noticed that it was not just preventing the video from loading, the whole player seemed to be frozen since the volume, play/pause, full screen, etc. buttons did not work). This is the link to the rule: https://www.eff.org/https-everywhere/atlas/domains/conviva.com.html Thanks and spread the word!!!!

First, thanks FredMcD for your response. Although I did some of the suggested actions (checked video card drivers and clean installed shockwave's last version), then I realized that it's not related with the aforementioned or flash or other plugins. Just out of curiosity, I restarted FF in Safe Mode and it worked! Therefore I assume some of my extensions must be making trouble, and I have too many of them (around 20). Moreover, I realized that it not only does not load the video, it doesn't even load the video (e.g. sports event) title (text) at the right of video window, so something is interfering with the whole ESPN/FOX page, not just the video. If you know of an extension causing this sort of behavior, just let me know (in the same manner if my deduction above is wrong). In case you want to take time and effort, below is a copy of my FF's Troubleshooting Information page. Thanks a lot,

Fernando

I have the same problem where flash based videos, twitch, espn, etc, don't play. Nothing crashes but I do get some stuttering and sometimes the page freezes for a little bit when I mouse over the video. Everything works fine on other browsers. I tried following FredMcD's advice but that didn't fix it and I've also tried the usual clean installs of everything.

Some of your crash reports weren’t sent to the Mozilla Servers.

In the address bar, type about:crashes<enter>. Note: If any reports do not have BP in front of the numbers/letters, click it and select Submit.

The crash report is several pages of data. We need the report numbers to see the whole report.

Using your mouse, mark the most resent 7 - 10 crash reports, and copy them. Now go to the reply box below and paste them in.

aboutcrashesFx29

It could be the work of one of your add-ons. Type about:addons<enter> in the address bar to open your Add-ons Manager. Hot key; <Control>(Mac:<Command>)<Shift> A)

In the Add-ons Manager, on the left, select Extensions. Disable a few add-ons, then Restart Firefox.

Some added toolbar and anti-virus add-ons are known to cause Firefox issues. Disable All of them.

If the problem continues, disable some more (restarting FF). Continue until the problem is gone. After, you know what group is causing the issue. Re-enable the last group ONE AT A TIME (restarting FF) until the problem returns.

Once you think you found the problem, disable that and re-enable all the others, then restart again. Let us know who the suspect is detective.
