Hello all. I am looking for a way to prevent the width of tabs from resizing when either adding or subtracting tabs from the tab bar. The only reference I can find to this issue is a 2014 post found here: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/989387. The suggestions therein do not apply to the current FF version. Among other things, the suggestion to go to the setting "browser.tabs.animate" does not seem to apply to the current FF version since I can not find such a setting. Like the OP in the 2014 post, the auto tab resizing drives me nuts! (Maybe he/she and I are the only people in the whole FF world community who are bothered by this?!) I would much prefer the tab width to stay the same and use the arrows on each side of the tab bar to access tabs that do not fit across the screen when many tabs are open. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I am using FF 128.0 with Win 10 22H2 build 19045.4651. Thanks for any suggestions. John H

I use multiple windows with multiple tabs in each window. I am wondering if Firefox can be improved so that when I open a link in a new tab it opens in my CURRENT window (the one I'm looking at in front and the one in which I asked to add a new tab) rather than a window in the background or minimized. Firefox chooses to open new tabs in the last window in which I opened a new tab, even if they're in the background or minimized, which gets very annoying because I am constantly switching between windows to work on different topical projects. If this could be fixed I would appreciate it! Thanks.

This has been happening for a while now, it’s been happening multiple times a day and at random times. I can’t switch to other tabs or if I want to switch to a tab that’s like 5 tabs away, it will just group the tabs together. I can’t use the X button either to exit these tabs. While this happens my Mac acts weird and highlights random things as well. If I want to open a link it will open a whole new window for that tab although I turned that feature off in preferences. The only way I can fix this temporarily is to shut my Mac down and then get back in.

I have "Open previous windows and tabs" checked in the settings, And have been using firefox in that manner for years, Like I would close the browser, And would beable to come back to what I was working on. But after an update, I came back to all my tabs gone, And I opened multiple tabs and closed, And opened the browser again and there were no more tabs. I followed the instructions in a earlier post of the same problem but problem persists. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1429964 Please help I lose productivity without this feature. Thank you, Paul

Hi,

Since the last update (I'm on 127.0.2) or at least very recently in the last 2 weeks, my tabs previously closed with Firefox as a whole that should open with Firefox, on start up, don't and I'm redirected to my homepage.

(I have tried finding help on other posts of the same nature but can't seem to make it work hence the new post.)

I have tried changing my homepage to verify it was redirecting me to it. It did. I have tried restarting my computer. Didn't work. I have tried disabling and re-enabling the options. Didn't work. I have tried all this on my work and personal computer. Same results. (They do not share the same settings)

I feel like Firefox opens my previous tabs, opens Firefox once again on the homepage and then closes the window with all tabs. I'm saying this because it happened 2 to 4 times that after I restart my computer, it opens 2 windows on 2 different windows desktops like I did when I worked before. (with the previously closed window on the second window opened...) Also, another reason for me to believe this is : the newly opened windows have a format which I used to open my second and third Firefox windows with that were very different from my first one (usually full screen).

I am lost at what I could try to do to fix the issue. I'm not sure how much of what I shared can help to find a solution so I tried to dump as much related info as I could.

Thanks for reading me, Ludovic

I recently switched to Linux mint (cinnamon) from windows 11 and have set firefox back up but the tab bar now squishes the tabs, like chrome ,instead of scrolling, like it had on windows 11. Is this feature not available on linux? And if it is how do you set it up, because I cannot find anything about it in the settings. Many thanks!
