Pressing Alt in Firefox in Linux (Ubuntu/Kubuntu/Linux Mint 22.xx) brings up a top menu, which is hugely annoying as I'm always trying to to a window action if I'm pressing Alt.

The suggested solution is to go to about:config and change ui.key.menuAccessKeyFocuses to "false".

But this keeps reverting itself. (Between every other reboot?). Alt will again bring up this menu.

How can I permanently disable this shortcut?

My old iMac fried the fans during its update to Sonoma 14.6 and though I can still turn on the machine and use it, my time is limited before things get too hot and I need to shut it down.

I have the older profile saved from backups but since I needed to check one account before I had everything all set up, I configured TB on the new iMac (OS14.6.1) to be able to check a gmail account. It worked and TB downloaded everything from that account. Now I either need to manually set up all the other accounts or try using my old profile.

I am concerned because the gmail account holds a lot of old (really oulde) data and I don't want it to be overwritten by the old profile which left all the email on Gmail servers. I won't be able to retrieve it from gmail since it was all automatically deleted when TB was set up to check the mail. I have it now, but will importing the old profile overwrite what I currently have for that account?

I need to check the other accounts too, they are from my own sites but if I need to, I could set them up manually. My servers do not keep copies beyond 30 days (my settings). Is it safe to import the old profile and settings? This version of TB (128.1) is not anything like the (says it is up to date) one on my old iMac. It would save me some time to import the old profile, is it too late?

I'm seeing strange coding or gibberish in emails. Here is an example. I have at least a dozen more:

However, this is property displayed like the attachment I'm including below, in Mac Mail.

This strange behavior does not occur in the same email on Mac Mail, where it looks completely normal.

Have several email accounts working in TB. Consolidated multiple Msg. Filter files into just ONE to be placed in all accounts, used Notepad / Word naming it .dat without .txt This has worked fine before. Somewhere within the new .dat file I believe there is some sort of ERROR, and it can't be read by TB at program start. Wondering if there are any tools for checking the integrity of the filter file. Hi everyone,

I recently updated my macOS to Ventura 13.6.9 along with updating to the newest Firefox Nightly; now whenever I try to launch Firefox, it just hangs and will never load the start page. If I give it about 5-10 minutes, it will eventually load the favorites bar, and then when I click into the address bar to type, it hangs again. If I give it another few minutes, I can type but hitting enter/return, nothing happens.

If I restart my MBP and hold shift to boot into safe mode, Firefox loads perfectly fine with no issues or hangs at all. I'm just not sure what is different that would be causing it to hang when booting into regular mode?

Intermittently find browser open on its own @ homepage without any action on my part.

I just realized that my Thunderbird settings were set to never delete messages from my archive. My email was unusable for a few days as a result. I was able to change the settings under Disk Space so that my archive will delete messages once every 365 days and I also compacted my folders. I can now RECEIVE new messages again, but I still cannot SEND new messages out. I am unable to sign into my Thunderbird account as I forgot/lost my password. Could someone kindly tell me how to reset my Thunderbird password and advise me how to clear my archive....or explain why I still cannot SEND new messages?

In that time, I've had to recover a couple of times by simply re-installing Thunderbird, establishing it with my main email account (ian_and_maureen@yahoo.co.uk), then replacing the newly established .../Roaming/Thunderbird folder with the archived one, thus recovering all my subfolder data in the Inbox of ian_and_maureen... plus a second email address.

I've tried to do this with the laptop, but I don't fully recover the historical data, all I get is the current Inboxes for the two accounts with no historical data. Can you advise me what I'm doing wrong? If this is the wrong way, what is the correct way? It seems essentially the same action as is described by the guide found at Moving Thunderbird Data to a New Computer | Thunderbird Help (mozilla.org)

My PC is running Windows 10 Version 22H2 (OS Build 19045.4717) with Thunderbird Version 115.13.0 (32-bit). The Laptop is Windows 11 Version 23H2 (OS Build 22631.3958 with Thunderbird Version 115.13.0 (64-bit)

I had been receiving new emails automatically. Now I have to restart Thunderbird to receive any new emails. My Thunderbird is set to download new emails every one minute. My email service is through Earthlink. Could this problem be related to a recent Thunderbird update? Thank you for any suggestions.

I got a new Macbook Pro recently and set it up by basically copying my iMac onto it. All works great. Except that the MBP doesn't show up with it's synced open taps on my iMac or my iphone. The iMac doens't show up on the MBP either.

Have I maybe copied some setting that makes the two machines (iMAc and MBP) thinkt they're one and the same? How can I "separate" the devices so that they show up in each other's Synced Tabs lists, respectively?

After detaching an attachment from a message in my Inbox (viewing in Message Pane), Thunderbird automatically skips down to the next message. How do I keep it from doing that? Thunderbird 128 for Windows.

What I want is really very simple and should be logical. I read my emails in the Message Pane. After detaching a detachment, I want to then reply to the person who sent me the file. But Thunderbird automatically skips to the next message in the Inbox, so when I reflexively hit "Reply," I'm suddently replying to the wrong message. It's really annoying. :-) And makes no sense. I'm not "done" with a message just because I've detached a file...

I'm pretty sure I managed to fix this once before, but all my searches only turn up answers to turning off "auto-advance" when deleting a message, not detaching a file.
