I have no idea how to decode the error message, let alone fix the problem. suddenly i can't download messages from Outlook to TBird (version 115*). I updated to MS's Modern Authentication a few months ago & have been downloading messages just fine until now i can't. didn't change anything in settings.

Help!

Please understand i am NOT an IT professional or anything near it. just a normal clueless user.

I'm running Thunderbird 115.12.0 64-bit on Ubuntu 22.04. I recently had a hard drive crash. I've had to put together my email data from two separate backups to restore everything. The problem is I reorganized the mailbox folders between the backups, so the metadata thunderbird maintains about the data storage will be wrong in my new setup. I have my imap and pop mailboxes restored correctly now under my profile storage and would like Thunderbird to just leave them alone. The problem is, every time I start thunderbird, it automatically wants to compact my mailboxes and free up 5.7 GB of space, which means it will delete some of the newly copied emails it doesn't recognize.

Is there a way to tell thunderbird to start over and reindex the mailboxes that are there? I've tried deleting the global-messages-db.sqlite file, but that does not fix the problem. This is a common problem as I've had it happen in the past as well when reorganizing the folder structure. It seems there should be a way to tell thunderbird to reset its indexes and leave the mailboxes as-is.

Any help would be appreciated.

Help! I believe that repeated unsuccessful attempts to compact my overly large inbox folder have resulted in all of the available space on my hard drive being taken up by incomplete temporary MBOX files. I want to know how I can get these temporary files out of the way. Thunderbird 115.5.0, 64-bit, Windows 11.

Background: My inbox is admittedly way too large, but in the past I have compacted it regularly without problems. Recently, after deleting many messages, moving some other messages to other mail folders, and emptying the trash, I tried to compact all folders (apparently including folders for another email account), as Thunderbird suggested. That apparently failed. Then, after deleting more messages, emptying the trash, and emptying my Recycle Bin, I tried to compact just the inbox. After working for a while, Thunderbird gave me a message that compaction had failed due to lack of space on the hard drive. Indeed, the hard drive had only a couple hundred MB remaining! I cleared out a lot of files and freed up several gigabytes of storage on the hard drive, then tried again to compact the folder, only to get another failure message after Thunderbird had been working for a while. I removed still more content and gained about twice as much storage as I had had before the previous try, then tried to compact again, and got the same result after a much longer period of compacting effort by Thunderbird.

Unable to authenticate to Outgoing server (SMTP) smtp.googlemail.com. Please check the password and verify the "Authentication method" in Account Settings | Outgoing server (SMTP)'.

Under SMTP Server I see the following: Description:Google Mail Server Name: smtp.googlemail.com Port: 465 Connection security: SSL/TLS Authentication method: OAuth2

I have Hulu live tv streaming and the video is not streaming. I get a black screen when I select a channel or an item from the library. This also happens when I try to stream local tv stations' 24 hr streaming sites. Other streaming services (Disney+, ESPN+, Netflix... etc) stream just fine. Hulu works perfectly in Microsoft Edge but I truly prefer not to use it. I've been using Firefox for years. This has happened after the latest update of Firefox. The update before this latest I experienced a similar problem and using the trouble shoot mode narrowed it down to a problem with Adblocker Ultimate extension. I deleted the extension and reinstalled it and the problem corrected. I did the same this time and no success. I have cleared the cache and reset Firefox and still the problem exists. TIAF any help.

After 129.0 update, Hulu streaming quit working. I have other streaming services that still work fine. I tried it on older version of Firefox 115.14.0esr (64bit) (old pc Win 8.1) and it works fine there. Can I go back to an older version of Firefox or is this a known issue with update?

This is the issue, Hulu website loads and allows you to log in. When you try to stream a show, it plays a commercial then freezes.

I recently updated Firefox to the latest version, and ever since, it crashes immediately on startup. I haven’t installed any new extensions or made any significant changes to my system. I’ve tried restarting my computer and reinstalling Firefox, but the issue persists.

Is anyone else experiencing this problem? Are there any known solutions to fix this crash issue? I really rely on Firefox for my daily browsing, so any help would be greatly appreciated!

To try and rectify thunderbird not sending email to my outlook.com I have deleted the acount in thunderbird twice and reset it up each time. The problem is the IMPAP e-mail download works fine but sending e-mail either stays stuck on sending, times out or I get not authenticated on SMTP server. My send set up is :- Port 587 Server name: smtp.office365.com Connection Security: STARTTLS Authentication Method: OAuth2 User name: This is my outlook e-mail address ie name@outook.com I confirmed the message originating from Outlook asking to confirm access by Thunderbird. My Thunderbird is up to date with latest version. Any Ideas? Thanks! By the way, Thunderbird works fine with my GMail account for both IMAP and Sending mail - I deleted my gmail account in Thunderbird and re-istalled it - all reinstalled work fine but not so with sending e-mails to my outlook account.

TB has been working well for a long time - but it seems since updating to v128.1.0esr I can no longer send emails from my Gmail accounts. I can send emails with my Yahoo email account however. So the issue is specific to Gmail. Incoming mail works - only sending emails is the issue (SMTP).

I've attached files of the outgoing warning messages and TB SMTP settings. FYI - I have three Gmail accounts and one Yahoo account. When I press the "Enter New Password" button in the "Login to account Gmail Account failed" dialog box, nothing happens - the screen quickly blinks.

What's interesting, is the failed email is saved in the Drafts folder with Gmail online. In other words, if I login to Gmail via a web browser, the message is saved in the Drafts folder and I can send it from the web browser Gmail account - but not from TB. Any help would be appreciated. I did make $$ Donation to TB awhile back.

Ever since I've been upgraded to Thunderbird 128, I've been experiencing constant hangs. I'm running the latest versions of Thunderbird and Windows 10. My antivirus software is Windows Security.

This issue seems to be most acute whenever Thunderbird checks for new messages. Thunderbird's CPU usage jumps to between 25 and 30%, and memory and disk usage also skyrocket. Thunderbird freezes completely, and everything other program that's running at the time is slowed to a crawl for several minutes minutes. Troubleshoot Mode doesn't help.

Any suggestions?

Hi. When I view the Activity Manager, I see many log entries similar to the following except with different folders: "The current operation on 'Kailah' did not succeed. The mail server for account xxx@gmail.com responded: [NONEXISTENT] Invalid folder: Financial/Venmo/Kailah (Failure)." The folder in question existed a long time ago and has since been deleted. Same for all the other similar messages. The folder(s) was / were originally created in Thunderbird and then deleted after many months. If I create the invalid folder in Gmail, the message no longer logged. I reboot the computer daily and every day these messages appear. I am assuming something is out of sync and Thunderbird believes these folders exist. What can I do to remove these issues. Server type is IMAP Mail Server. Using Thunderbird 115.14.0 (64-bit)

I have 4 gmail accounts with Thunderbird. A couple of days ago, my granny account started getting the attached message. It's the only gmail account that gets this. All of the settings are exactly the same for all accounts. I tried sending a test text from one of my other accounts - twice. They finally came in about 10 minutes later, so apparently messages CAN get to the account eventually. However, when I try to get all messages - or even just for this account - I get the attached message. This has been going on for at least 2 days. I can sign in just fine to this account if I sign in through my computer and go to the account online. Also, if I try to SEND an email from this account through Thunderbird, I get the message that the login failed and to enter a new password. When I click to enter a new password, the email goes through without any further action by me. I get the same message when hitting reply to the test message that finally was delivered. I'm at my wits end! Please help!! Thank you!!!

I tried closing and reopening TB and it still won't save the new contact.

Would appreciate help with this. Hoping it's not technically complicated, as I'm not an expert at this.

I used to be able to press Enter in the empty Firefox search bar to bring up the (DuckDuckGo) search page and enter my search from there. Don't ask me why I like doing that, but now after the latest Firefox update, 128.0, on my MacBook Air I can't do that anymore. I have to type in the search bar to bring up the search page.

I know it's a small thing but I wonder if it can be put back to the way it used to be.
