I’m trying to access an Apple calendar in Thunderbird. Read-only is fine.

I made the Apple calendar public & copied the URL. I then supplied the URL to Thunderbird. I receive a request for a password. The Apple calendar being public should not need a password. However, I created an app-spec password anyway, but supplying that password failed as well.

Am I doing something wrong?

I’m running Sonoma 14.6.1 & Thunderbird 128.0.1esr (64bit).

As many have noted, this change eliminates the ability to search for past calendar items. It was a useful ability, especially for interval checking (say, "How long since my last dental hygiene?") but for many other tasks as well. Search of past events needs to be reinstated, if not in the previous manner, then in another - and sooner rather than later.

When I first opened Thunderbird (just a few weeks ago), I noticed that some Calendar Tasks were already set up by Thunderbird. (My standalone calendar is Efficient Reminder).

But I don't see options for REMINDERS - popups (preferably) and/or sounds. (The purpose of a calendar for me is to be reminded to do things.)

I searched for options in Thunderbird, and I looked on the information here, but can't find anything.

If I can I select a sound and/or popup to REMIND me, where can I find the option to set it?

Lightning had the ability to search the entire calendar for an event, sadly, this new iteration of the calendar built into Thunderbird 128.0.1esr doesn't support anything but today or later events.

Most of the time I use the calendar to search for a previous event (when I was previously somewhere). This is very important and an oversight on the part of who thought the search from now until the end of time was all anyone would need.

Can the functionality be returned to search every event and not just from today onward?

This BUG has persisted for over two years. Reiterating this question/bug report since it is a constant irritation and for which there was no response previously...

With all the various iterations of the TB Calendar including the latest (currently 115.10.1 - 64bit), it has always been a mystery as to how the organizer email address is selected when creating a new calendar item with invitees. It seems to be somewhat random and it changes for no apparent reason.

In my context I show three calendars, all remote (fruux, CALDAV). All three are configured with usernames and email addresses appropriate for the calendar.

There are two fields in an external calendar properties settings that might apply: Username - the email used to access the external calendar....Not appropriate to use for the 'organizer'. Email - according to the documentation "This is the email address Thunderbird uses to send invitations for events." This would be appropriate as the default organizer but it isn't what is used. Instead the Username email is used. THIS IS A BUG.

One would expect that for a calendar item created, when inviting attendees, the organizer would be the email address configured for the calendar but this is *NOT* the case. Instead, it seems an address is plucked somewhat randomly and applied to the field.

Is this something that can be configured or is it just a BUG? It is painful to have to constantly correct the organizer email and results in confusion with my meeting participants, especially when the invitation arrives from a strange email address.

Note that with upgrades to TB 115 and beyond I completely replaced my TB profile from scratch and the problem has persisted across the profile rebuild. So that does not seem to be a solution to the issue.

I'm unable to connect Thunderbird to my icloud calendar. I was able to locate the calendar url through my icloud account, but I could not get the set up process to recognize my password. I tried using my icloud password, my email account password, and the app specific password for my email server. Not sure what else to try.

My Thunderbird calendar file is located on my organization's Nextcloud server. We just changed to a newer version of Nextcloud and moved everything to a new url, so my calendar updates no longer work. I need to edit the address of the calendar file. I open the Edit Calendar and can see the old url in the Location field. I can select and copy the contents of the Location field but I can't change it.

See edited screenshot

Thanks in advance for your help.

Background: I have two PC's accessing profiles and data on an NAS device. Automatic upgrade to TB 128 went fine on laptop, but on desktop (which installed after laptop), TB did not find the desktop profile (I think--it displayed the create a new account screen when it started). I manually added accounts and pointed them to Local Storage location on NAS. Had to re-enter some settings (e.g. incoming email notification), but all seems okay on email side.

However, my calendar and tasks do not display. I use a local calendar, plus Google, which was not showing in 128. Added Google and it works fine, but local events and todos do not display. I located the local.sqlite file in my desktop profile and viewed it with DB Browser utility. I can see tables and I can find both event and todo data. I restored a backup from before the upgrade, but still no events/todos in TB (the backup file shows events/todos using the utility).

Any advice on next steps to fix this? Thanks.

Just updated to Thunderbird Nebula 128.0.1esr on Windows 11 and my calendars are all empty now. I have Google and Exchange (via OWL extension) calendars that have worked flawlessly up until this update, but all show no events in Thunderbird. No other changes have been made and the calendars appear populated in other applications.

Edit: Seems to have fixed itself after a reboot/on a different network. Still 128.0.1

I recently switched to Thunderbird calendar and I really like it but I have just one question to make my calendar perfect.

When creatingan Event / Task Is there a way to isolate each Event / Task in their own box and fill color sollelction? When I go to print the calendar all that I see are the words. If I could color the boxes as I have done in the attachment (T-bird)from another calendar that I use to have, and the other attachment is printed from Thunderbird (T-bird-1)and it it would make it easier to see with bigger fonts and colored box.

Until I tried to set a task 5 minutes in size (I am logging timeboxing rather than setting things in advance) and the visual block had a minimum size that made it overlap even though the times don't (had this issue super heavily with google calendar, thought this could be the saviour but ig not). I'm not a C++/JS programmer I only know lua, html and css so I could take a look at the source code but I've also never built anything and I'm not sure if this will be as easy as tweaking a value.

If anyone has expertise and it doesn't take them that much time I would appreciate it if you could send a build where the event block can be visually any size you set it to. Thanks either way

Greetings.

I am using Thunderbird 125.0 (32-bit) on a Windows 10 PC (Windows 10 Home Version 22H2).

Within its Calendar interface, the Find Events function has no option to search all events, as shown in the attached screen shot.

Although I do not use this "Search All" functionality frequently, I do consider it essential.

Unfortunately, I am uncertain when it became unavailable. However, I suspect it was sometime within the past several months.

Thank you in advance for any clarification you may provide pertaining to this issue.

After an update a few months ago, all installations of thunderbird always open the calendar tab when the program starts. Previously, calendar tab only opened if I opened it (or maybe if it was left open when last shut down, idr now, sorry). This is only a nuisance, having to close the tab each time I start tbird.

I didn't post about this immediately, as I figured others would experience the same issue (or related) and devs would fix the problem. But it has been several months now and this does get to be annoying. I know that merely clicking a close button shouldn't be that big a deal, but I don't understand why this would become the default; moreover, why there doesn't seem to be any way to disable the calendar or at least modify this new behavior.

I've been using tbird for at least a decade and found it to be reasonably simple to use. I use the calendar function, but only for some installations. I would appreciate being able to change the behavior of the startup or maybe just disable calendar altogether where it isn't needed.

Thanks.
