Hello Community, I have installed Thunderbird Ver. 128.1.0esr (64-bit) for the first time on an iMac with Intel. An account is set up (approx. 4100 mails). The start of TB takes almost three minutes until it works. In comparison, Mac-Mail starts immediately. What can I do to use TB?

Sending emails.

I can send and receive emails but after a while it keeps asking for an updated password. It won't accept the password I use. I have to use another email client.

About 3 weeks ago, I stopped getting email from ATT in Thunderbird. I am able to go online to the ATT mail and see my email, so it is something with Thunderbird. I've looked online for other suggestions and have tried several. Between everything, I've really messed things up and not sure where to start now. Last thing I tried was to delete the certificate and now I can't seem to add a certificate. Not sure if I'm suppose to create a new one or if there is one on my computer.

This morning I found some steps on how to create one. It had me go to the End-to-End Encryption to generate a new one. I didn't see that option, so I created a new OpenPGP key (not sure why I thought that would help).

Maybe the best thing is to try and reinstall Thunderbird.

I'm open to any suggestions.

Email database seems partially corrupted

EDIT: If you're googling this in the future, I was able to solve it by right clicking on the inbox folder and hitting 'Compact'. I guess that was able to clear up the bad… (read more)

Today, my inbox has gotten partially corrupted. After updating to version 128, my Thunderbird has been very sluggish. While trying to troubleshoot that, I used Properties->Repair Folder on the inbox, which is when the current problem started.

In the main inbox window, everything looks fine. All emails are there, with correct subject names and correspondents, etc. Everything received before April 8 this year looks to be unaffected, but if I try to open up anything later than that, it displays a chunk of a completely different email from like 2007, with the From: and Subject: fields blank.

Additionally, doing the repair marked all emails from April 21, 2008 and earlier as unread.

I use POP3 to download all emails to my computer, two addresses going to the inbox.

I tried using Properties->Repair Folder again, but it still leaves the same result.

If I open the gigantic "Inbox" file in my Thunderbird profile folder in notepad++, scrolling down to the bottom I see the emails are still there, so they're not completely missing. In between the last good email and the first bad one, there is a huge section that starts with:

--=-SgCIEz327q/2h3s2MXJ25A== Content-Type: text/plain; charset=utf-8 Content-Id: <92b40d02-593e-4a4a-8768-a31f564d0d90> Content-Transfer-Encoding: base64

and then hundreds of lines of gibberish, followed by "--=-SgCIEz327q/2h3s2MXJ25A==--" and then it goes to the next email.

Quick filter is slow

In latest update 128.1.0esr the quick filter is extremely slow. When typing something in, Thunderbird freeze totally for about 20 seconds, then about 15-20 seconds later the result shows up.

This function have been working excellent in previous versions. Very quick, just fractions of seconds for result to display. And the "check in content" is not checked.

Swedish version if that makes any sense.

Hi there,

Yesterday I sent an email, only to find out today that it has not actually gone through. I did not receive any warning and have found it in Thunderbird's "sent" folder on my PC, yet looking for it in my browser did not yield any results and Outlook mobile, for instance, saved it as a draft before sending it. In neither could the email be found as "sent".

How does this happen? The email address in question is from an .edu-domain and as far as I'm concerned the settings to connect are the same as they are in Outlook - which did not have this problem.

Why do I find duplicate sub-folders in my Gmail folder? There are two 'Drafts' folders as well as a 'Sent' and a 'Sent Mail' folder. Each duplicate sub-folder contains slightly different messages and neither can be deleted. Thunderbird (version 128.0.1 esr) Inbox emails do not contain any data. Last week Thursday, you could look at an email in your Inbox that was received the same day, 3 months ago or 3 years ago and you could see the email, the text, pictures, attachments, etc. Come in to work on Monday and when you click on an email in the Inbox, they are blank. You cannot see any text, pictures or attachments. Note, this is only the Inbox. If you go to the Trash folder, every email will load just fine. I assumed some Microsoft update came through that was causing the problem so I did a restore point on the computer to a date prior to last Thursday. This did not fix the problem. I made a backup copy of the email file by going to "Help, Trouble Shooting Information, clicking on Open Folder next to Profile Folder, backing up "3" directories to the Roaming folder and copying the "Thunderbird" folder to a removable drive. I then installed Thunderbird on a laptop that has never had Thunderbird on it before and properly installed the "Backed up copy" of the profile folder. This resulted in the same issue, some Inbox emails will not open with any text/info, they show up on the list but are empty when you go into the email. Whats confusing is why only some emails wont show any data while others within the Inbox are just fine. Another thought was maybe the file size was too large, but the Inbox file size is 1.9GB, well below the 4.0GB. I did try to run a "folder rebuild" and it deleted a bunch of emails out of the folder, I cannot say for certain if it was only the emails that won't show info or if it encompassed more of them. Good thing I had a backup, so I could restore all the emails it lost. The photo shows an email thread and how it displays the email, no text/images - it has data but will not show anything when you go into the email. This email happens to be from 2022, but I could select an email from yesterday and it would do the same. Note - it is not isolated to an email that has a thread, it can sometimes be a single message. And again, only in the Inbox. All other folders function properly. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

I have Thunderbird on my laptop and map in to that three email accounts. One outlook and two plusnet.

On Wed 31st July this week when I did my daily look EVERYTHING for just one plusnet account has totally deleted. The shell of the email account is still present in the left hand pane, but no content at all. Nothing. All emails and folders and not in trash or anywhere. New emails are still coming in from that point.

On the plusnet online webmail portal they are also gone too.

The other two accounts are totally fine (including the other plusnet account).

I'm totally at a loss as to what happened. It was a totally normal day. I hope you can offer some insight. Thank you for your time. Neil
