Last night, all of my Thunderbird mail disappeared. Thousands of messages.

I have 3 email addresses, each from a different server, one being Google.

I work on a Mac, Monterey version 12.6.1

Thunderbird is 115.4.1

The inbox for each of the 3 accounts says how many messages exist, but none are visible.

This morning, incoming mail is visible. But one of my test messages to myself disappeared a little while after I sent it.

I'm pretty devasted! I've used Thunderbird for more years than I can remember.

I've lost messages I need to refer to and templates for business.

I'm highly functuional on my laptop and with my email, but I'm not a tech person.

How can I recover my emails?

My work emails do exist on the server. But much of my gmail is no longer on the server.

Thanks for any help you can provide to a layperson like me!

~Ellen

When I delete 1 email, it happens quickly. When I delete 5 emails, it takes about 10 seconds. When I delete 40 emails, it takes 2+ minutes, when I delete 100+ emails, it takes 7+ minutes. What's going on? Seems to me emails, no matter how many I delete, should be deleted very quickly. What can I do to speed up the delete process?

I hate it. The numerical reminders of "unread" mails next to the folders are distracting, and the lines in the actual mail list are so close together that they practically overlap. I have low vision, and this is maddening. Most maddening of all: when I delete an e-mail, randomly and unpredictably the screen will hop to another part of my Inbox. I have no idea what function this feature is supposed to serve. How do I get the previous version of Thunderbird back?

Hello! How can I highlight and view my multiple inboxes at the same time? I am coming over from Apple Mail, and I have multiple email accounts; Personal, personal work, bills and utilities, junk mail, etc. In Apple Mail, I would hold command or shift, and could highlight a couple of email inbox accounts and see all the emails together. I can not seem to find the key combination in Thunderbird. I would love to ditch Apple's eco system, but that one feature I'm still puzzled with on how to do it. The individual email accounts are setup in Thunderbird, that part is good. Just can't view them at the same time. Thank you so very much!

How do I remove the two hyphens that get added my email whenever I use a signature (every email).

I know this has been resolved on some previous editions of Thunderbird but the latest 115.2.3 and the previous one appears that editing the config file to make changes is no longer an option the way it was being done on older versions.

Also, why is it even there?

With the latest update of Thunderbird I have lost all my tool bar customization. I thought this update was to improve my experience and make things better for me. Making me try to redo all my setting just because some developer needs to put his own stamp on this product is not helpful nor improve my experience. How do I get my layout back? How can I revert back to the previous version????

I want to move the search bar off to the side because I am usually click what is now the center of the toolbar to go back to the window. I searched this forum and only found how to remove it. I know I can turn off "Hide the system window titlebar" in order to have a clickable space there, but that wastes a lot of space. I also know I can remove the search bar, but I don't think I'll remember the search shortcut (<command>+<k> on mac) because I don't use it often. It seems like I should be able to move and resize the search bar, but whenever I remove the flexible space to the left of it, it gets far wider than I need it to be (and if I also remove the flexible space on the right, it goes full width). I can't seem to resize the search bar directly or by adjusting the size of the flexible space (which is to say I can't find anywhere to drag on the search bar or the flexible space while in the Customize Toolbars screen or in the main window), and each flexible space I add to the right of the search bar reduces its size by less and less such that after the 3rd flexible space is added, adding additional flexible spaces is almost inconsequential (while the search bar is, unfortunately, still completely in the way). Is it possible to control the size of the search bar another way, or is my best bet going to be to remove it and use the Edit menu when I need to search?

I'm converting from outlook and I'm wondering how to jump to a particular letter in the alphabet with scrolling to get to it when the emails from sorted by alphabetical order. In outlook you just click on the alphabet on your keyboard and it takes you right to the beginning of the emails starting with that letter. Just curious if thunderbird does this or if there is an add-on or shortcut to get there. Thanks.

I've been using Thunderbird for many years with great success but I cannot receive emails after the latest update as of 10/5/23. Outgoing mail works fine and I checked with my internet provider (Empire Access) to be sure all my setting were still OK and they told me my setting are correct. My gmail and Empire Access emails still work fine.

At age 85 I've lost my Primary Password and after trying all the solutions with Thunderbird/Firefox I'm lost. If only you could give me the other programs' way of proving I am who I am, like texting to my phone 510-575-6326 or other recovery steps, I would be relieved. Having to start from the beginning with a completely new Thunderbird???? NOO! Losing all my saved passwords, etc etc??? I've used Thunderbird for some decades now to support a charity program for impoverished Haitian children. PLEASE Help me get back my old Thunderbird.

I can't control the FONT SIZE of the incoming emails with the new version of T'bird. Hate it!! It's ugly. Looks crowded and, as I said I can't set it so the incoming fonts are a readable size. OR the font size in the individual mail boxes... This lack of control makes it next to useless for me. I'm in my 70s and really do need the larger font sizes.

Thunderbird’s connection to one of my gmail accounts failed today.

I removed the account and then tried to add it again to Thunderbird.

When logging in using a Google generated App password, I receive the following message:

"400. That’s an error. The server cannot process the request because it is malformed. It should not be retried. That’s all we know."

OAuth2 is in place, and I’ve carried out all other recommended checks I can find on your website. My other Gmail accounts are working fine.

Please can you help? Many thanks.

I have spoken to my ISP and its confirmed, as have I, that I can log on to its website and successfully download my emails so the problem "must" lie with Thunderbird. I am not very technically inclined so would appreciate some advice please, thank you. My ISP technical person (at iiNet Australia) did say they were receiving a lot of phone calls today about email and "blamed" it on changes to Outlook? If this helps. Regards.

Starting yesterday, after the most recent update, every time I open/start Thunderbird the Microsoft password request box opens. I have several Hotmail accounts. I enter the correct password for each Hotmail account. If I close Thunderbird and open it, then it asks me again for the password on each account. It isn’t saving my passwords… I know the passwords work. If I go to Hotmail/Outlook.com then I can enter the same password and get to my inbox. I have version 115.2.3 (64-bit). Yesterday I tried the 115 (Supernova) and I was disappointed because of the toolbar on top of the TB window: I think that you should let the user choose where put any toolbar, and I didn't find the way to move in its "classical" place (not at top but below the menu). There is a way to do it? And if not, please consider to give it as soon as possible.

With this latest version, the inbox, sent, etc etc etc no longer display as unified. The Unified Folders category when ON shows as its own item in the left column with a single empty inbox! Scrolling up and down to each account for each subfolder is a waste of time!!! Hope you fix this ASAP!!!!! Unified folders works fine in 10.12.13 but I cannot got back to that due to your system.
