Hello,

I want to be able to highlight/copy an email address from the 'Results for:.. ' header at the top of the Search Results page in Thunderbird 115 (see attached screenshot).

When I use the Search Bar, Thunderbird recognises the email address as being used previously, but does not bring up any results. It used to be possible to highlight/copy the email address from the 'Results for:.. ' header in previous versions of Thunderbird. I would much prefer to be able to do this save time and ensure that I have the email address correct - otherwise I need to type it out manually which is frustrating and can lead to errors.

I hope you can help!

Best wishes,

Ellie

Was this email actually sent? It isn't in the "regular" sent folder. I believe there was an issue with imap, and I had not known about clicking on options/request receipt or delivery status notification before I sent it out. I would be embarassed if I resend this email and it had indeed already been sent.

Is Mozilla working on the below email I have received from Microsoft? "The safety and security of your information is top priority for Microsoft. To help keep your account secure, Microsoft will no longer support the use of third-party email and calendar apps which ask you to sign in with only your Microsoft Account username and password. To keep you safe you will need to use a mail or calendar app which supports Microsoft’s modern authentication methods. If you do not act, your third-party email apps will no longer be able to access your Outlook.com, Hotmail or Live.com email address on September 16th.

What do you need to do?

If you are receiving this email, you are currently using an email or calendar app that uses a less secure authentication method to connect to your Outlook.com email account. You will need to upgrade your third-party mail and calendar app to a version which supports modern authentication methods.

Microsoft provides free versions of Outlook for your PC, Mac, iOS, and Android devices which can be easily downloaded and connect to your email account. Using an updated version of an Outlook application will ensure you are connecting in the most secure way.

How can you set up your Gmail, Apple Mail, or other third-party mail application?

Various non-Microsoft applications will have their own steps for connecting to your Outlook.com email account using modern authentication methods. See our help article - Modern Authentication Methods now needed to continue syncing Outlook Email in non-Microsoft email apps. However, you may need to contact the creators of those applications to provide you with instructions. In many cases, simply removing and re-adding your account with the latest version of that application will configure it to use modern authentication methods.

I use Thunderbird (64bit, 128.0) to check my gmail account. When composing an email I can not choose google drive when sending an attachment. I've tried installing the google drive desktop app on my computer but once selecting the file I want to send, I get an error that I don't have permission to access that file.

"Sending of the message failed. There was an error attaching Expenses 2020.gsheet. Please check that you have access to the file."

It is a file I own. I can however, send a pdf file that was stored in my google drive.

How do I send google drive files using thunderbird email? Thanks in advance for the help. Todd

I got an email from Microsoft saying my Live.com or Outlook.com email accounts won't be supported in Thunderbird UNLESS I change the settings to OAuth2 in incoming and outgoing server settings.

I even REMOVED the email account and re-added it making sure it was OAuth2.

But for my live.com & outlook.com email accounts I continually get prompts for passwords from Thunderbird. Sometimes I can't even click the RED X at the upper right to shut the prompt down. I just happens over and over until I give it what it wants.

I am tempted to shut down all Microsoft email accounts and switch to Gmail.

I have Thunderbird version 115.12.2 (64-bit) I used Windows 11 23H2 build 22631.3810 Windows Feature Experience Pack 1000.22700.1020.0

Any idea how to stop these prompts?

I like Thunderbird much more than any other email program I have ever used, and would like to keep it

I got this notification:

"You must have the 'Encrypt' button present in your compose window toolbar to be able to schedule messages with Send Later. If you removed it some point, you need to customize the toolbar and put it back. This is due to a Thunderbird bug which we hope will be fixed soon."

I don't use encryption, but do use "Send Later." I also never removed the button. I tried to customize both the main toolbar and the one in the composition window; neither one had a button under "customize" for encryption. Can anyone help with this?

How do I filter by the presence/absence of a field?

Gitlab adds a "X-GitLab-NotificationReason" field to the email headers, but only sometimes. I want to filter out messages that do not contain this header. How do I do it? The only operators I can see in the GUI are "contains", "doesn't contain", "is", "isn't", "begins with" and "ends with".

They don't take regexes or wildcards, do they? In that case maybe "is *" would work?

Hello.

I use TB on several laptops and desktops. Same (latest) versions.

Is there a possibility to copy the spam filter settings/rules from one pc to an tother pc? If so, what files are the name of the files i have to copy and paste. Or do I have to make rules and spam settings on each seperate installation of TB

On all my installations I have the same emailaccounts.

Thanks in advance and sorry for my (bad?) language (i hope I made myself clear) Henri

I dual boot Win10 and Zorin Linux 17.1, and run Tbird on both of them, works great!

I copied my profile directory from Win10 to Zorin, and then renamed it to the name of the profile directory that the Tbird installation on Zorin had chosen. So both systems access the same 10 IMAP email accounts. I keep messages locally, so the profile uses a fair bit of disk space on both systems.

In fact, the profile originally came from a different Win10 machine, so I had to copy it to a (large) thumb drive. And that took several hours and encountered numerous problems. The structure and content of the profile directory tree is bewildering. But despite the errors that caused a few thousand items (of the 302,000) not to get copied, it seemed to work just fine(!).

It turns out that Zorin seems able to read and write NTFS filesystems quite well. So now I'm wondering if I can copy the profile directory from Zorin to the Win10 partition on the same machine, and replace it with a symlink to that NTFS directory? Does Tbird do funky low-level things to the profile that might not work as expected with Zorin accessing it on NTFS? There would be no risk of race conditions since only one system can be booted at a time. It's just the problems I had copying to the thumb drive in the first place that make me worry that Tbird does some kind of magic with the profile that might not work with linux accessing NTFS...

I guess I'll go ahead and try it (and report back here), but I'm wondering if I should expect problems.

Thanks!
