Got a new MAC Trying to delete old bookmarks but no go. The old bookmarks used to be in "Other bookmarks" but now they only show up in "All bookmarks" and the Star will not let me activate the Delete Bookmark button

Before, when I started to write an address, firefox did not remember and I have to write it. That was fine. Now, it remembers everything and everything is kept in the history despite I close the private and open it again. Any other person can open the private again and see the last thing you were doing. No real private browsing, no fun

1. impossible to open bookmarks. nothing happens

2. all the shortcuts on my home page have disappeared while they are still chosen in preferences and it is not possible to add new ones. Again nothing happens when trying.

I am mainly concern about the possible loss of the links of the bookmarks. I already experienced a total loss of the history and I fear to go through something like that again.

Please solve this problem or help me if I can do it myself. I did a restart and a refresh but no change. Thank you

I wish to save my bookmarks in alphabetical order, first the folders and then any bookmarks that have not yet been allocated to a specific folder. This used to be possible as I gave reorganised the older bookmark folders are in alphabeical order previously. This seems to be no longer posible. I can reorganise them in View but cannot save them. Am I doing something wrong? Any help appreciated. Thanks in advance. text

New computer, new Firefox install. Old computer has the Library Icon in the upper right corner when the browser opens. I imported my bookmarks, but can't figure out how to get the Library Icon positioned.

I feel this can only be corrected by an adjustment to the version, am on 122.0.1 as the latest update. My O/S Linux Mint Mate v20.0.3. Have NOT been to any schooling or even just a class for any training, all done as my curiosity has driven me to learn on my own, Self-taught and have been working with CPU`s for over 35 years, I am 84...

Getting to this point has been a rather long drawn-out process that has been a bit confusing hope this info is acceptable.

i imported Firefox bookmarks to Firefox on another user account and i am not getting thumbnails! Both on bookmark's bar and inside bookmark browser :/

How to fix this?

I turned off my Mac Mini 2 last night, February 7, and when I turned it on this morning, all my Firefox bookmarks were gone.

Everything else is fine (Chrome bookmarks, which are different from those in Firefox, remain intact). And yes, I should have known better, but since when a Firefox update deletes all bookmarks?

I'm guessing that is the reason, because everything else is intact.

Any suggestions as to whether there is ANY way to recover them?

I just downloaded the latest Firefox browser, and it asked me to import all of the my bookmarks, but it only grabbed the ones from Chrome. All of my former bookmarks that were saved in the previous Firefox browser are gone! Most of my useful bookmarks were in Firefox. Where are they, and how do I get them back?

Bookmarks. I can't seem to log into my saved sites on any given day. I can log in on Monday but on Tues it will not log me in. Hell, it will not even show that I've got the saved bookmark at times. Yesterday I did banking from my PC just fine and today I tried again to log in and it failed, so I had to deleted everything AGAIN and started fresh. This has been happening for 2 months and it is affecting ALL my logins. I get locked out, delete, refill and repeat....I've had to call my banks and amazon because the switch over from Google was a gong show...I got locked out of every account. I can log in on my phone while looking at this stupid computer telling me NOPE you login password or name is wrong. Oh, and the pc doesn't sync the bookmarks with my phone so I've hand to manually add the bookmark.....I've actually had to carry my physical bookmark book for a month because I'm on the move a lot and couldn't trust firefox would let me into any of my sites....

At some point in the winter of '21 I created a folder of bookmarks that was saved in the 'bookmarks menu'. At a later date, hard to say when but probably '22 or early '23 I deleted these bookmarks. I now desperately need to recover them.

The oldest auto-backup from 'Manage Bookmarks' -> 'Import and Backup' -> Restore is dated mid '23 and does not contain the deleted bookmarks.

Is there any hope of recovering them? For example via the Recycle Bin or by using a data recovery tool? Or will they have been overwritten?

MY BANKING IS HANDLED THROUGH A CERTAIN CREDIT UNION. THE CREDIT UNION HAS SECURITY FEATURE THAT YOU ARE COMPROMISING BY RECORDING A SPECIFIC PAGE AS A BOOKMARK "post login script page's should never be eligible for automatic bookmarking to a home page." This should never be done as that page becomes a shortcut to my bank account! THIS CREATES A SECURITY ISSUE for me as I could be locked out of my bank account. Some sensitivity and a bit of common sense is called for here!

Additionally; I have an Amazon Account and want my bookmark FOR AMAZON to remain at The Sign-in page. However, you opt to delete my bookmark for an advertising bookmark that does not take me to an Amazon Login. This creates an inconvenience and a problem.

One more item: I do not use any on-line tax preparer. NEVER! I do not use Turbo-Tax, H&R Block, or any other tax preparation service. MY BOOKMARKS GET DELETED SO YOU CAN PLACE AN ADVERT ON MY HOME PAGE THAT IS NOT JUST UNWELCOME BUT A SERIOUS INCONVENIENCE.

synced a new computer, old one has an underscored star w/bookmarks, new computer did not bring that over, it brought over other bookmarks. can something be done to bring that over?

I searched the forums, and it appears this issue has answers going back 12 years.

Answers explain how to get it to show up again. Basically, it amounts to turning the bar off and back on again.

The problem is it WILL happen again. Why? It's been 12 years and no explanation as to why it happens or how to fix it permanently.

None of the Firefox updates over the years have addressed this either.

I restarted my PC (reinstalled Windows) and then downloaded Firefox. Previously I had important bookmarks, but I didn't save them anywhere (stupidly). Can I restore these somehow? Does anyone know that? I am grateful for every tip!!!
