This trouble arrive after every udate of Firefox on my iMac mid 2007 El Capitan 10.11.6 and on my MacbookPro mid 2010 High Sierra 10.13.4 After every automatic update, Firefox refuse to work because he don't find my profil anymore... So I have to remove the program, download it again and reinstall it!!

Hopefully I never update the both at the same time on the both devices... So I could sync parameters after reinstalling it ;-)

This bug is really very annoying!!

Small precision: before each automatic update, Firefox works perfectly and I never moove anything in the library!

Hope someone could help me...

Hi, please try a Refresh but Note that this does more than uninstalling and re-installing does. Normal uninstalling does not remove some preferences which may have become corrupt. Please Refresh but do this 1st: Delete your Cookies and Cache and TEST.

then

TEST....... If no issues then Extensions which need to be added back in 1 at a time and tested ..... Or it is your Profile : Make a new one and test ...:

If is your Profile :

Note: Any customization will revert back to default, you will also need to reinstall Extensions.

Hello, Thanks for your quick answer.

I had already read all these supports when looking for help by myself ;-)

So, When I shut down Firefox and open it again....all is ok When I shut down my computer, open it again and open Firefox again...all is ok And I'm usually very happy using this program.

BUT, when Firefox make an update, he don't want to open again because he don't find my profil And this arrives after every udate since a few months!!

So I think it is a bug with update program

I know that it is nogood to do that but I just disactivated the detection of update :-(

Try to open the Profile Manager to create a new profile.

See "Creating a profile":

If the new profile works then you can transfer files from a previously used profile to the new profile, but be cautious not to copy corrupted files to avoid carrying over problems.

If Firefox can't find the profile then you either need to recover your previous profile or you need to create a new profile.

You can check if you have an orphaned profile that isn't registered in profiles.ini and that doesn't show in the Firefox Profile Manager.

You can recover an orphaned profile via these steps:

See "Profile was moved or renamed":

Note that you should never use "Choose Folder" to specify a folder that already contains files that do not belong to Firefox. Only use "Choose Folder" to recover an profile that isn't listed in the Profile Manager.
