Thunderbird quit downloading just my work hotmail account in July 2024, the others are fine, settings are the same. I had the same problem with gmail during the pandemic and had to start it up from scratch, losing all my old emails. I do not have that luxury with my work account. Please help. Is it a size issue?

Life long outlook user and switched to Thunderbird a year ago. It has its quirks and I have learned to deal with them so all good. I run a micro business from home and totally rely on apps. The only app that is local is Thunderbird. All others are cloud-based. Wondering if Thunderbird will develop a cloud platform alongside the local app? Happy to pay a subscription.

I am missing years and months of email between March 2022 and early August 2024 after doing a compaction. The emails are still on my server. Should I uninstall Thunderbird and reinstall it to recover those missing emails. I have tried to repair my Inbox folder, but they are still missing.

and I immediately began scrambling to get it back. I found this somewhere: "Don't Delete Files" is the preferred option because it saves the old profile's folder and allows you to recover the files to a new profile. So that gave me hope because that's what I had clicked (unfortunately, it was right before I saw the cancel button over on the right). That's what I get for being in a hurry I guess.

Anyhow, after 4 days of reading support forums and tons of trial and error, I'm no closer to restoring that profile than when I first started (although I've learned a lot about what does NOT work).

Btw, both my profiles have always been set up as POP3 at Gmail, although if I ever get this current problem sorted out I'll be shopping for a different POP3 provider. But that's another story.

I know how to create a new profile with Profile Manager. And I found the Profiles folders under both Thunderbird folder as well as ThunderbirdOLD folder. Have I been on the right track so far?

In the Thunderbird/Profiles folder, I don't see a folder with the deleted profile name (except the new ones (duds) I've since created ). On the other hand, I don't see the name of the profile that I did NOT delete either, but somehow it seems to be working just fine. Maybe it's the ".default" folder or ".default-release" folder? I've only ever had two profiles and I may have created the non-deleted profile first, so did that one end up being named .default? -shrug- I have no clue.

Anyhow, in the ThunderbirdOLD/Profiles folder, I also see ".default" as well as ".default-release" folders too. But in addition, I'm seeing a ".deletedprofile" named folder. So that's where I originally thought my several dozen email folders with several thousand emails and Address Book etc are hiding. But I've copied all the above mentioned folders into the several new Profiles I've created, on a trial and error basis but so far..... no luck. All I get when I open one is the new set up screen to set up a new pop3 account.... which I can do, but that's just starting from scratch without any of my saved data. I'm running out of ideas.

Where am I going wrong?

I'm on Thunderbird Nebula 128.1.0esr 64-bit. I use IMAP and I have multiple accounts in my Thunderbird configuration. I have Google Workspace for our business which I can received and read email by IMAP, but I cannot send. I also have a personal Gmail account and that can send and receive.

Yesterday Google experienced a global outage and as best I can tell it has somehow screwed up the OAuth2 Session / Tokens for some Thunderbird clients. Over on Reddit there are other users reporting the issue and it appears to be a bigger issue on Workspace accounts. It does not affect the entire Workspace domain. In our business, I have other users who are on Thunderbird and can still send/receive email on the same Workspace hosted domain that I am having issues with.

I have gone into Settings > Privacy & Security > Saved Passwords and removed the entries for the account that I'm having problems with. That did cause Thunderbird to spawn the browser window to Google to carry through with OAuth2 token approval. That got me back into receiving email, but I still can't send via SMTP.

When trying to send I get the following dialog, but clicking Enter New Password just does nothing and the Dialog just reloads again. I attempted to add a new SMTP Server in Thunderbird, but that never prompts a new OAuth2 dialog for that new server and same Dialog box appears.

Windows 10, Thunderbird 128.1.0esr (64-bit)

I lost an SSD, from which most data was recovered in some form or another. The original profile is recovered, and original files of type .mozmsgs, .sbd, .msf, plus others, matching original local folder structure. Files in the folder types have the structure as if you looked at individuals in the Thunder profile dir on a working copy of Thunderbird.. something like this header:

My current Thunderbird will not open these files, nor is there an option to import, unless I want to import the entire profile, which I am reluctant to do at this stage. If this action appended to or added to my current Thunderbird, I think I could be ok with that.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I'm getting a message the following message each time I try to send an email:

"Sending of the message Failed.

Unable to authenticate to Outgoing server (SMTP) smtp.googlemail.com. Please check the password and verify the "Authentication method" in Account Settings | Outgoing server (SMTP)'.

Under SMTP Server I see the following: Description:Google Mail Server Name: smtp.googlemail.com Port: 465 Connection security: SSL/TLS Authentication method: OAuth2

To try and rectify thunderbird not sending email to my outlook.com I have deleted the acount in thunderbird twice and reset it up each time. The problem is the IMPAP e-mail download works fine but sending e-mail either stays stuck on sending, times out or I get not authenticated on SMTP server. My send set up is :- Port 587 Server name: smtp.office365.com Connection Security: STARTTLS Authentication Method: OAuth2 User name: This is my outlook e-mail address ie name@outook.com I confirmed the message originating from Outlook asking to confirm access by Thunderbird. My Thunderbird is up to date with latest version. Any Ideas? Thanks! By the way, Thunderbird works fine with my GMail account for both IMAP and Sending mail - I deleted my gmail account in Thunderbird and re-istalled it - all reinstalled work fine but not so with sending e-mails to my outlook account.

TB has been working well for a long time - but it seems since updating to v128.1.0esr I can no longer send emails from my Gmail accounts. I can send emails with my Yahoo email account however. So the issue is specific to Gmail. Incoming mail works - only sending emails is the issue (SMTP).

I've attached files of the outgoing warning messages and TB SMTP settings. FYI - I have three Gmail accounts and one Yahoo account. When I press the "Enter New Password" button in the "Login to account Gmail Account failed" dialog box, nothing happens - the screen quickly blinks.

What's interesting, is the failed email is saved in the Drafts folder with Gmail online. In other words, if I login to Gmail via a web browser, the message is saved in the Drafts folder and I can send it from the web browser Gmail account - but not from TB. Any help would be appreciated. I did make $$ Donation to TB awhile back.

After installing 128.1.0esr (64-bit) I have problems to send e-mail with a server login error which is related to my password. My android client is working fine with this password. Thunderbird was working fine before the software update.

Thank you to David & Toad-Hall who kindly worked to get my Thunderbird to download my messages from Juno in a series of support messages in mid-July.

I have worked with KW, a computer help person at my senior center. I have a follow up appointment with KW on Fri 8/16, 1 pm MDT. Last session KW succeeded in re-setting the STMP server port to 25 and the POP3 server to 110. See screen shots.

This did NOT enable Tbird to download my messages from JUNO. There was a' change, Tbird would no longer SEND messages via my Juno account, earlier it would send test messages. see 3rd screen shot

Like Toad-Hall, KW is suspicious that the last message Tbird downloaded from Juno 6/26 that directed me to reset my password in Juno was malicious. We reset my password and Juno & Tbird both open with the new password I set up directly from the Juno webpage.

KW suggests I ask you if it is possible to deinstall & reinstall Tbird, Might that restore Tbird to function? Would I lose the contents of my saved messages in folders?

I have a gmail account which has been working fine with POP3 for years. The settings are: Server Type: POP Mail Server Server Name: pop.gmail.com Port: 995 Connection security: SSL/TLS Authentication method: OAuth2

I changed the password on Google, but now I cannot get my email account to work.

When I try to retrieve emails, I get a popup box titled Enter credentials for <email>@gmail.com on pop.gmail.com. There's a box to Sign in to continue to Mozilla Thunderbird Email. My email address is filled in. But when I click the Next button, I get a Google error 400... and it says "The server cannot process the request because it is malformed. It should not be retried. That's all we know." The URL in the popup box is 1209 characters long.

I cannot get beyond this. Any advice?

I use k-9 email on android phone and tbird on desk top.

I have messages on K9 I need to read on desktop but the don't appear on tbird client even though they are clearly visible on k-9

I tried to forward it but even tho k9 appears to send it is not delivered when I look in tBird

Receiving a 'bounced' notice in my inbox that tells me to advise sender to reduce the size of their message. It does not tell me who the sender is. How can I figure this out?

Thunderbird on my system is 32-bit on 32-bit Windows and a day or two ago it updated itself to version 115.10.1. Since then it's been slow at sending emails, receiving emails, applying filters and pretty much everything else. Is this being worked on? I saw a couple of similar reports from other people here but like I said, I can't add a reply to them.

And if it's not known about or being worked on, is there some way I can roll back an update?

I have a gmail account scoteng19611@gmail.comset up in thunderbird, it was initially set up om my windows PC. On my iphone message only appear after several weeks if at all, WHY? My other gmail account arthur3thornton@gmail.com access via my browser seems to appear without any problem.

Hello, I'm Christian. I am still facing issues changing my Thunderbird into an IMAP account, for following reasons: -exporting the existing is OK -creating the IMAP account is OK -Reimporting the messages from previous POP3 account difficult, because: -when using the import fonction, a local folder is being created with a directory three that looks liked the previous Dir structure I had previously. But transfering the folder and files proves difficult, the copy/paste function does not work properly so I can't just click and drag. My thunderbird folder is approx. 20g, could that be the reason? Furthermore, I cannot delete the previous POP3 account or the local folders. Any idea why? I actually do have a thunderbird account (POP3) comprises of 4 differents email addresses, I can delete 3, but not the last one as it appears to be the default one. At about the time of the most recent update to Thunderbird my wife's computer started running Thunderbird all wrong. A large chunk of old messages vanished, but not the oldest, and when she deletes a message it vanishes instead of going into a Deleted file. The old messages are still on the server, but Thunderbird will not download them again, I assume because it thinks she already has them. They are there, though. I installed her email on my version of Thunderbird and it promptly downloaded all 330 of them. I assumed something went wrong in the update so I thought if I uninstalled Thunderbird and reinstalled it, all would go back to normal. I have done so with both a warm and a cold reboot after uninstalling and in both cases when I open Thunderbird, there is her account, faults and all. So the question is "How do I get rid of Thunderbird completely, so that it needs the mail-box reloaded as well?" It is beyond me why what I have done doesn't work. Is there some other way to get the program working like it used to? My wife is about as technophobic as they come and takes a long time to learn something new so please can we go back to the way we were? We are both in our 80s so new tech is sometimes a challenge. Any help you can give us, in simple language please, would be appreciated. I don't want to convert her to Access as I have never used it and wouldn't know how to teach her. Thank you, Peter

I am so frustrated! I have to unexpectedly go away so I got my old laptop out so I could still deal with emails. When I opened thunderbird it said the profile was missing. I tried exporting the one from my desktop pc but it is over 1 GB and my USB stick is not big enough to take it. Being desperate I thought I would just delete thunderbird on my laptop and pay to dowload a new copy. I assumed it would just be like downloading the software for the first time and I would have to set all the servers etc up again and I have a copy of all my email contacts. However after installing it I still get that the profile is missing. Aany help appreciated
