On March 2, Firefox 3 series downloaded a new version, and I also downloaded a new flash version.

Since then, I have not been able to see a picture in YouTube videos.

It's a known problem which MANY people will have.

There are a few work-arounds, such as clicking where the pop-out button should be, but nothing really good.

I suggest using IE8 until mozilla fixes it. Or until a better work-around comes out.

I have the same problem with Internet Explorer ver 8. Doesn't matter for me both FireFox and IE8 show no image and only sound on youtube unless I clear the cache and reload the video after clearing cache every time. However as RonQ posted clicking the popout window on youtube to launch the youtube video in to a separate window works for me. Thanks.

What/Where is the "pop out" button in YouTube, and how do I "clear the cache"?

Clear the cache and the cookies from sites that cause problems.

  • "Clear the Cache": Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Offline Storage (Cache): "Clear Now"
  • "Remove the Cookies" from sites causing problems: Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"

Try to disable the hardware acceleration in the Flash Player.

The right click on the player shows a grayed out "Settings" item, can't access. The popout box isn't visible--this is part of the malfunction.
