I have the latest download of Firefox, It has always worked just fine until about two months ago. I keep hoping it would return but never did. I thought is was a yahoo issue. But turns out it is not, because it works fine when i use Internet Explorer. But I don't like Explorer I want Firefox please help.

I have the same problem, too. It just started happening one day for no apparent reason. It works just fine with Internet Explorer. I like Firefox better too. I have tried all of Yahoo's trouble-shooting options, and all I have found in Mozilla so far that could be related, but none have corrected the problem.
By the way, I'm running FF beta 4 11 now, ut this same problem existed when I was running ver. 3.6.
I finally found the solution. Chrome sneaked into my computer once. I didn't like it, so I uninstalled it with Revo Uninstaller. I didn't use it's "in depth" search for leftover parts in my registry. Apparently, the above problem started then, but I couldn't identify it. A few days ago, I got lax, and let Real Player Updates sneak Chrome into my computer. This time with Revo Uninstaller, I went all the way through "in depth" search of my Registry and it found 2 or 3 Chrome items still there. After cleaning ALL Chrome stuff out, the problem disappeared; the address book comes up promptly, and a couple of lesser problems have gone away too.

Well, I thought Chrome was the culprit, but after working for several days, my Contact is failing to list again. The "load indicator" just keeps spinning. This has happened before; work for a day or two, then problem comes back. There has been no unusual activity on my machine lately. Avast and SuperAntispyware continue to report "no problems found." My head is spinning now. IE has no problem with this.

I have tried updating to firefox 6.1 with no help there. The icon on the toolbar will bring up the address book but its clumsy and the box that says "contacts" in the main body of the yahoo mail program just brings up the spinning circle icon and cannot bring up the contacts. Since it all works in IE I have no doubt it's more Microsoft espionage to force you off Firefox. I hate IE and its manipulation.
Me too, 23 July 2011. Can get YahooMail contacts in IE but not in Firefox. What is going on and who will fix it?
I have the same problem ... contacts trying forever to load. I have found that going to http://address.yahoo.com/ shows all my Yahoo contacts while still in Firefox 5.0 To find your contacts do the following:-
- While in the contacts tab, click on 'Help'
- Under 'Yahoo! Contacts Help Topics', click on 'Basics'
- Now click on 'How do I view my contacts?'
- Click on the button 'Go back to Yahoo!Contacts'
This will take you to your contacts in Yahoo Mail at http://address.yahoo.com/
Hope this helps
-> Tap ALT key or press F10 to show the Menu Bar
-> go to Help Menu -> select Restart with Add-ons Disabled
Firefox will close then it will open up with just basic Firefox. Now do this:
-> Update Firefox to the latest version by going to Help Menu -> About Firefox -> click Check for Updates -> if an updated version is found then download the latest version and install it. After that follow these steps:
-> Update ALL your Firefox Plug-ins https://www.mozilla.com/en-US/plugincheck/
-> go to View Menu -> Toolbars -> unselect All Unwanted/Incompatible Toolbars
-> go to Tools Menu -> Clear Recent History -> Time range to clear: select "EVERYTHING" -> click Details (small arrow) button -> place Checkmarks on Cookies, Cache -> click Clear Now
-> go to Tools Menu -> Options -> Content -> place Checkmarks on:
1) Block Pop-up windows 2) Load images automatically 3) Enable JavaScript
1) Warn me when sites try to install add-ons 2) Block reported attack sites 3) Block reported web forgeries 4) Remember Passwords for sites
-> go to Tools Menu -> Options -> Advanced -> Network -> Offline Storage (Cache): click Clear Now button
-> Click OK on Options window
-> click the Favicon on SearchBar -> click Manage Search Engines -> select all Unwanted Search Engines and click Remove -> click OK
-> go to Tools Menu -> Add-ons -> Extensions section -> REMOVE All Unwanted/Suspicious/Incompatible Extensions (Add-ons) -> Restart Firefox
-> go to Tools Menu -> Add-ons -> Appearance section -> REMOVE All Unwanted/Suspicious/Incompatible Themes (Persona) -> Restart Firefox
You can enable your Known & Trustworthy Add-ons and Themes later. Check and tell if its working.
Followed mha007 instructions to the letter ... no better, still no contacts showing, just the loading symbol. Guess I will HAVE to use IE for the moment until Firefox comes up with a fix.
Win7 32bit - yahoo contact won't open in firefox 5. Has always been working since 2 days ago. IE8 is fine.
also had the problem 3 weeks ago on a family's member laptop, where IE8 would not open contacts and I loaded FF5 which worked fine. Now IE8 is works and FF5 doesn't.
I would say yahoo have done something at there end which has broken it with FF and are saying its a FF issue.
Also google chrome won't load contacts..... So IE works and FF/chrome fails...
so the problem is with Yahoo!
@mha007 - from what I've read yahoo are saying its not them. More then likely yahoo have changed/fixed something at their end and now saying FF and Chrome need to fix their side. Funny thing was IE was doing the same about a month ago and FF was fine, now the fault has moved.
Thanks for your post. I found one that is simpler for me. On Yahoo tool bar, click the dropdown mail menu. There on the right is a button for address book. Address opens in a new tab. More direct. Yahoo couldn't help and I hated to use IgnorantExplorer to get to my addressbook.
this is now working in the past 2 days, other people also reporting its working now. Nothing changed on the user side, just yahoo.
Yahoo have acknowledged my emails in complaint and have now resolved this problem. It was obviously at their end and only started with their new mail client.
I was unable to open or edit contacts in Yahoo Mail. I also could not type the recipient name and have Yahoo recognize it as a known contact. It would give me an error tombstone. I disabled all my addins. When I enabled Fox Filter 7.6.4, Yahoo Mail worked perfectly. Still have it disabled and will notify both parties of the error.
