originally had 1 imap account on my linux mint installation now have 2 accounts and get a pop error msg and no emails since DEC 2023 iF I DELETE TB and reinstall will we loose all our mail, contacts and etc or which account do we delete so as only to have imap and all past mail and etc regards

This new version of Thunderbird (115.12.2) is not the best. The Composition toolbar doesn't exist when typing a new message and I no longer have a menu bar when typing a new message.

Another issue is on replying why do these sideways "V's" show at the beginning of each line of the senders email when replying. Sometimes it will be just a black line all the way down. When I saw those I felt like I had woken up in 1995.

I am unable to open my thunderbird emails. It keeps giving me a message "Thunderbird had a problem and crashed" I have sent a message on Monday also and have had no response. This matter is urgent as i cannot access my emails

I am trying to set up an existing Thunderbird email account on a new hardrive I can't remember my password and it does not give me the option to reset password. It wants to send the reset verification code to the email I cannot access without my password I've downloaded Thunderbird email pinned to my startup. When I open it up the 1st dialog box wants full name, email address, and password. I can't go any further to get in to my existing Thunderbird email account.

I need to update an address. All I can find is New Address Book Contact under the Find menu. I am on an M1 Mac Mini running Sonoma 14.5.

One used to be able to access the Address Book under Tools, but no more.

My TB folder has a few GiBis now.

I am looking forward to loose some kilograms and found that there is a folder "mail/Mail" which contains "Local Folders", which make up 80% of the mess here ;-)

It also contains "smart mailboxes" and a lot of folders which seem to relate to "historical" mail providers of mine. All of these folders seem to be unused except local. Seems they were POP3 folders (except local).

Then there is a folder "mail/ImapMail" which contains my currently used accounts - and some "historical".

Questions: 1) Is there some documentation about this folder mystery? 2) How can I store/export the old mail in mail / ImapMap / local in a HUMAN READABLE and tool-independent form? is there some tool that does this? or at least an API I could call from Java etc? 3) Can I simply manually backup the old folders and remove them? What indexes have to be re-built and how?

I have accidentally deleted Mozilla thunderbird from the storage folder and now cannot access my emails in or out. How can I resolve this, please? I am desperate, thinking I have lost all my stored emails over 12x years!?

Running Thunderbird on Ubuntu 22.04.4

A recent update -- 115.8.1 (64-bit) -- has left me with no local folders. They're just gone. Since I regularly archive into a carefully arranged set of those folders, this is a big problem.

I have a backup of ~home/.thunderbird but I fear that the database has been borked. I can delete/reinstall, and then recover an older .thunderbird folder if necessary but hope there is some simple answer to this.

Just within the last two days we are not receiving our emails, looks like we may be able to send, just not receive.

Hello. I am wondering if there is a "Catch All" for emails that go to my domain but have been misspelled? My email is "MOlsen@Domain.com" but people often write "MOlson@Domain.com" Is there a way to catch those types of misspelled email addresses?

My GMail account is approaching the 15GB limit and so I will need to migrate my email from one Gmail account to another, specifying a date range. range (i.e., any email sent before June 2015). Can Thunderbird help me to do that? If so, what is the process I need to go through?

i cant send emails i can receive emails i get this message (1. Login to server smtp.telstra.com with username hammyelectrical@bigpond.com failed) ( 2. Sending of the message failed. Unable to authenticate to Outgoing server (SMTP) smtp.telstra.com. Please check the password and verify the 'Authentication method' in 'Account Settings | Outgoing server (SMTP)'. ) the settings are correct the password is correct is there a secondary password can someone please help kind regards chris

We have a few email accounts on a few computers. Our staff can't help themselves to go through spam and junk folders and bring upon themselves a lot of problems. I am filtering them out, but they get to it before me sometimes, and then all hell breaks loose. Is there a way to hide spam and junk folders locally on their thunderbirds, but keep them on mine? I have tried the subscribe button, but spam folder just keeps staying.
